Default maybe it was the weather

ok guys im not sure what it was but my gt with the o.s. .cv-r 12 went 43mph today. This engine kicks butt for what it costs. I got it for 95 bucks. I did gear it for speed but it didnt seem to effect its acceleration much at all. I was wrong abou this engien at first but now the more tanks i run the faster it seems to get. Go o.s. If anyone wants to get into racing and is on a tight budget self a o.s. .12 cv-r. Im sure the fantoms kick butt too but im more then inpressed by this 95 dollar engine. I guess this is just a general nitroman88 update thread. I got my Street force all tricked out with the orange mesh rims and civivc body that goes from siliver to black. anyways i just got a new printer that can copy scan and offcourse print so ill be able to put more pics on my site, ill let yall no when i get all the pics up on so you can check em out. anyways later.

43 is pretty fast man, I like it!

What are you using to clock your truck? I've been trying to come up with a good way to do that for a while now, but without a LOT of room and timing equipment I can't exactly do it by distance/time...

NItroman, What size clutchbell and spur gear are u running? I have a 22tooth clutchbell and 66 tooth spur in my rc10gt and I was clocked at 41 mph at 170degree motor temp. The place I race at has a radar gun. I also have the .12 cv-r. Good to hear you hit 43, I think I can get close to 50 if I put a 58 tooth spur in and lean her out. What do u think?

(100 feet/ time) x .68 = top speed in mph

im running the non pull version and 170 Degrees F is way to low to be running at.you should be running between 225-240 i think you need to lean here out alittle. im not sure if you have the gt plus of the FT. I have the plus but the stock gearing was a 15t clutchbell and im not sure on the spur. I went up 2 teeth on the clucth and it made qiute a difference in speed. I was not using a radar, i was using ft/sec converting it in mph. I did multiple runs to make sure the times were correct and all were around the same.IF you guys are wondering how i got enough space, thier is a big brand new parking lot by myself and it hjas more then enough room to clock the Gt. 43 isnt impossible with the cv-r considering that one guy got his to like 46, not sure what kinda gearing though. I think the engine just now started getting broken in really good.

I have the factory team version. Like I said I have a 22 tooth clutch bell and 66 tooth spur. The guys at my lhs tell me that 170 -200 is a good temp. Is it going to shorten the life of the motor if I run it around 220-240? Thanks for the help Nitroman. By the way is that dirt oval track still open up by you. I think it is called wild bills. Do you guys have races there?

If you have the FT then you probably aren't running an associated pullstart .15, and its hard to say what the heat range for your motor should be. There are motors that don't even want to break-in unless you run them up around 250, and the cheesy associated "sport" .15 p/s that comes with the rtr runs very nicely at about 260. The HPI tech I spoke with recently told me to lean my .12R SS up to about 270 to get the fulll power. Its all a matter of how much power you want, but I think its fair to say that 220-240 is probably safe.

Wild bills track shut down but they have a new oval now and supposedly are suppose to be making a offroad. It is going to be wildbills and some other people that run it. ive heard the entry fees are going to be pretty steep though but Ill see what happens and let you know. thier suppose to start racing oval at the end of this month. Im not sure if ill want to race oval though because its really harding on the enfgines then offroad, not top mention its not near as fun as offroad.

buyrbware had a whole topic on why you should use airplane fuel over car fuel.. and that was one of the reasons, you run alot cooler on the engine, and it goes noticably faster.
