RE: EDGE 540 HYBRID 92" ENGINE
I had an Evolution 58 in mine, and found that I never needed full throttle. It would perform lots of "pattern style" manouevers at just above an idle. I have no idea what it weighed, but I'm sure that I did nothing to "build it light". (I'm too much of a rookie builder to know much about "building light".) I'm positive that my DA-50R would have worked well, but it might have needed a little nose weight for balance.

I've seen all engines from the DA50, Brison 4.2, ZDZ 60, and even a 3W 75. All will work and it really depends on how much power YOU want. The DA 50 is very common and provides plenty of power for a 16-17 lb plane.

Evolution 58 is a good match for it. This engine is resonably priced, and for all out 3D it will REALLY power your plane. With 1868 sq in of wing area this plane will float like a kite in the sky and you definatlly will not complane that it is UNDERPOWERED! One of our club member have this combo and he is really thrilled with his "TOY".

Canister I'm not sure, but I think it is 1" header that comes out on the left side of what would be a cowl and planke of balsa runs on the top of canister to separate it from electronics.

I just finished mine with the Evolution 58. Look at my recent posts.
Desert Aircraft has everything you need.
They stock a double-bend header (with a flex section) with the correct flange. You want the one with 50mm drop.
I used a MTW TD-90 canister, and have no regrets.

I was comparing the Evolution 58 to the ZDZ 80RV and notice that there is only about 4oz difference in weight. How do these engines compare? Reliability, starting ease, power?

The ZDZ 80 would be way more powerful than the evo 58. For one it is a much bigger displacement. I have heard good things about the ZDZ single cylinder engines. Reliable and strong.

Blockbuster,
What muffler are you using on the EVO 58?
I am looking for a relatively quiet combo if possible.
Thanks
