Get a aluminum locker from Maximizer. I have one and it works great. I recommend upgrading to their aluminum diff cup at this time too because the stock diff cup is plastic.

A better upgrade, in my opinion, is the [link=http://www.vertigoperformance.com/products_Lockers.html]Vertigo Performance Diff Lockers[/link]
Reasons are:
1. Does away with the Diff cup altogether.
2. Cheaper (only $20) than getting the maximizer alloy diff cup AND locker (maximizer price 0f 40.22+22.95=63.17)
3. More durable

I heard silly putty in the diff works pretty good, and isn't permanent.

Maximizers diff lockers are good but like you said, get the alloy diff cup as well. The stock plastic cups do wear in time and flex during hard turning and take offs loosening the tolerances within the cups.

Yeah, that works but wears out after awhile. If you're inside the diff, which hopefully you are not offen, do it right the first time because you will be back in there when the putty whears out. Then what??

RE: WATS DA BEST WAY TO LOCK DA DIFFS??
The terminology used with RCs is sometimes misleading if you have any background in 1:1 vehicle mechanics. They call that a locker, but it's actually what's known as a spool. The solid chunks of aluminum that other comapanies make to go inside the stock diff cup are not lockers either. They are more like mini-spools for 1:1 vehicles. A spool replaces the carrier and keeps the two axle shafts locked together at all times. A mini-spool does the same thing, but it mounts inside of a gutted stock carrier instead of completely replacing it.
A real "locker" does the same thing, but it also has the ability to unlock when coasting or turning while off power in an attempt to lesson the ill handling. This action can either occur manually or automatically, depending on the design of the unit.
The "limited slip" effect that you get from using heavier diff fluid is the most accurate cross-over term. Limited slip in 1:1 vehicles is achieved with some sort of friction setup, but the end result is about the same. The old term "Posi-traction" refers to a limited slip unit. It was actually a trademarked name owned by GM and used for some of their LS differentials.

I say go cheap...hehe silly putty sounds good, or JB weld, epoxy etc...I wpould only used the JB weld etc option if my diff needed rebuilding, or you have some old gears lying around from a previous rebuild...

Damn, a day late and a dollar short. I wish I had seen this before I bought the Maximizer setup. If I have any problems with what I have now, I'll surely go with the Vertigo at that time.

Update....I got rid of the Maximizer and have since gone with Vertigos up front and in the rear. Vertigo no longer makes the Savage locker, so you'll have to find them on ebay, etc.
