Default Best way to remove carbon?

Hey all.
I was hoping to get some ideas on a good way to remove carbon from top of piston and cylinder head.

Thanks

I had a dirtbike manual years ago that suggest using the end of a hacksaw blade. They usually have a round edge and don't gouge the piston. I've used it before and it works.

A conical brass wire brush with a recessed shank attached to a drill motor.

Do not ever use a steel brush on aluminum internal engine parts. Best not to do so on external parts either, but that's up to you. Steel fragments break off the brush and embed in aluminum. When it happens the fragments retain more heat than the aluminum.

Try Dawn Power Disolver. Works well for me. I will use a soft Scotch pad after that to remove whats left.

PS to my first post,
With good oil, you only need a paint paddle and a gas soaked cloth!

Crock Pot and a gallon of Prestone, cook on high for 24hrs. Stinks bad, but sure takes the carbon off!! Did this to a couple 3W cylinders/pistons when I ran the wrong oil. Works great!!!
