RE: My new gas outrigger!
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that entire top end is TOAST.
The chrome being peeled away from intake ports lower edge & the intake side of piston being all tore up is from WATER INGESTION !!
You will be purchasing a NEW cylinder/Piston/Ring and likely crank bearings too before that engine will ever run decent again.
Bummer, buts thats what you got there

FWIW.
That cylinder looks only slightly modified, intake ports been widened and exhaust raised. Transfers, piston appear to be basically stock.
One of my first posts on this thread talked about a carb intake cover to PREVENT water injestion ..... case in point of WHY this issue needs to get addressed
I would look up Carlo of CC engines, send him what you have and get an estimate on a rebuild and maybe some modified hopped up replacement parts.

Thanks for the replies. I dont know why someone would run it without an intake cover. Once I get this rebuilt, I will definitely put one on.

RE: My new gas outrigger!
Even stranger is .... that they got it to run AT ALL !!
A rigger with an open carb you 99% of the time can't even keep it running during the launch due too water injestion !!
