The ARF went together without problems. I was impressed with the quality of the materials and contruction with this models. The direction were easy to follow, step by step in clear english. The only problem I would like to change is the push rods to the tail, they use steel rods inside tubing. This adds alot of weight, making the model very tail heavy and calls for 5 oz. to be added to the nose to achieve the proper balance.

My engine is the Magnum .46 which is lighter than a .40 and alot lighter than a 4-cycle. The 4-cycle would be a better choice because of the weight. My next step is to break the engine in. I'm planning the first flight with a 11 x 6 prop.

I had this same plane with a magnum 46, and on the secound flight i went into a dive and the elevator fluttered and blew apart the tail section,, and yes that was the end of that plane,, i would not buy another...

Sorry about your plane, the elevator setup is badly engineered. If you follow direction as stated a crash is almost guaranteed.

I saw that problem coming because the elevator movement is held together by one little set screw. If that screw loosens, instant flutter. To solve the problem I put several notches on the elevator rods. Then coated them with epoxy and the coated the connector bar and installed the set screws. I wrapped the whole thing with a little string to hold more epoxy. Now the rods will break before it loosens up.

I had two of these and the tail of the first one failed on the first flight. I was flying with a .40 size engine and was in straight and level flight when the horizontal failed. The second one lasted through half dozen flights with no issues and then I sold it on to somebody else and lost track of it. Just FYI, there may be a potential weakness in the tail of this airplane.

I E-Mail Hobby People, [[email protected]], about the problem with the elevator flutter. I told them of 2 prople that had flutter and crashed and I thought it was due to 1 of the 3 set screws getting loose.

Their reply was they had no complaints about the Super Air and the crashes probaly due to bad servos. If you think any crashes were due to a design problem give a E-Mail.
