Harry C,

You're statement about JR/Futaba spreading misinformation is really incorrect, and bordering on slander. If you'll look, all those comments have come from customers, not any of the reps. As opposed to the Multiplex/Hitec rep calling another manufacturer's equipment "after-thought stop-gap devices".

Sad to see how these threads turn into sales pitches.

It is not suitable for ME, and I am generally the one that makes the hobby buying decisions for ME. I do not speak for anyone else.

I have indeed tried olding one of these radios and I did not like it all, althought I would be very interested in one if if felt better in my hands.

Do you know the if the 12 channel EVO is really coming out in May? Is it brand new or has it been run in Europe? Is there a synthesized version available?

Thanks

Tony is correct. I should not have typed that. Sorry.

Matt, the Royal Evo has been available for about a half of a year in Europe (if I remember correctly). The plan for the USA is a 12 channel fully synthesized receiver and transmitter (I think they have this already in Europe, any Europe guys know for sure?). To tell you the truth I have not paid too much attention to the synthesized aspect as I do not trust myself not to go shooting people down, so I will probably stick to the crystal controlled version. As to if it will be out in May, well that's the plan. But you know how these things can go. We'll have to wait and see. I am waiting for one with baited breath!

O.K. everyone has danced around the answer to the original question.

The reason you need so many channels for a jet is simply that jets are expensive, so you need a radio that has a high price tag so it won't feel bad next to the plane!

The synthesised Tx has been out for a while, a friend of mine has one. Synth Rx are expected next month.

Since you have a 4000 I doubt you will want an Evo. It is a 3030 class radio - a significant drop in flexibility and programmability from the 4000.

Not all jets need mega channels. I have been doing the test flying for one of our club member's jets - it is a 3 channel trainer! OK, 4 channels with the fuel valve, but it is rudder, elevator and throttle as controls, no ailerons. He wanted a big gentle trainer type model to suit his reactions and he has achieved it.
