Default Weedy output shaft size?

I've searched and haven't quite found an answer to my question (prolly asking the wrong thing in the search)

What is the best output shaft size for a weedy motor to use a 1/4" flexshaft on a boat? I was at my local lawn and garden store and they have many larger CC motors with varying sizes of ourput shafts. Never actually looked at any as I don't know what the business end needs...I know some are already square ferrul applications but honestly, that's it! All motors they have are clutched.

Any insight would be awesome!

Thanks,
Darin
