Hi guys,

Is this possible, I ask? Converting an electric powered RC car to a 2-speed transmission?

I think I might give it a go... by purchasing a two speeed trans from a gas RC car and putting it on my RC car.

It should be possible, but what would the point be if you are running an electric? Is it a really high torque motor or something or is it just an experiment?

It's really just an idea. I know that electric motors have a really high speed by themselves, but imagine having an extra gear to go even faster. I know that you'd need a super long straight to get it into the second gear though, sadly.

As your battery power falls off the trans will not shift limiting you to a single speed anyway. If a two speed was an advantage they would be used already.

I've got a better idea now anyway, thought of it last night when I went shopping. Will post pics of the completed model in a while.
