Default How do u fasten your planes in the trailer?

I have finally made the jump and bought a new trailer to transport my big toys to the field. This is my first trailer (only 5x10 but OK to transport 2x 40%). I am looking for some ideas to attach the planes in the trailer.
Please feel free to post your photos.

Daniel,

I went to the Toledo show and finally got to see a product I've been following for awhile now. Here's a picture. They work extremely well and take the load off the landing gear in a bouncing trailer. If you use carbon gear, especially tailwheels, you'll have a true appreciation of that. They work on any flat, horizontal surface. They also make a track system where the same mounting brackets can be installed and slid around to various locations for those that carry numerous plane types to different events.

Hi Pat
I saw that Product and though it is expensive, it looks very good. My trailer will surely bounce. How does that bracket reduce bouncing, if they have hinge at the bottom?

If you use a plywood shelf, be shure to add stiffeners on the bottom of the shelf. The shelf will bounce around like a trampoline. I used 2X2s spaced about 2 feet apart. I use straps from Lowes with brackets I made from 2X4s. Works similar to Pat's idea.

Looks very expensive. How much were they charging? I've been using bungee cords for the past ten years and they work just fine.

I used bungee cords for years and had them come loose. What I use now is a single screw with a big washer that secures a 2"x12" piece of velcro in the center and that wraps around the gear legs and has never failed. Cheap too. About $2 per shelf.

The carriers don't actually reduce the bounce by any noticable amount. What they do is take the load off the axles and the tailwheel. The tailwheel is what usually takes a pretty serious beating. The bungee cords work but they load the landing gear heavily. Those are the planes that end up with broken carbon tailwheel springs and bent titanium spring rods.

The carriers aren't cheap at about $90.00 per set but they shouldn't ever wear out.

Hi

Here is a setup that allows almost anything to be tied down. The track on the ground iscalled S track. The Track on the walls is called E Track.

Hundreds of tie down setups and uses.

One not of caution I always elevate my Tail section it's very easy on a hard bounce for Damage to the Aft section to occur.
