Default Building X SS brakes problem..

So I got my X SS and putting it together.. Having a problem with getting the dual disc brake to run smoothly.. When i put the 2 screws in tight enough. The gears dont move smoothly.. the brakes drag.. Now.. the 2 discs fit tightly on the bolt which i'd expect to be loose to it can move around.. Anybody else had this problem or a solution?

I remember when building my On Road HPI, they asked me to use threadlock on the screws and leave them as loose as it'll run smoothly..

Last question is.. In pack D, it included a Metal Brushing (part B072).. I cant find out where this goes.. it doesnt ask to put it anywhere.. so if anyone knows.. it would be appreciated! thanks

Thread lock won't work with Metal / Plastic only metal / metal. I know because I tried that with my brakes and it didnt hold. Someone will come to help you out soon with a solution to both of your problems. I just wanted to tell you that Thread lock won't work and no need to waste your time.

b072 is the bushing for the spur gear.

the brake disks should move on the hex(float not stick).
leave the screws loose enough that there's a small amount of drag.this will also help with the servo not haveing to take up alot of slop in the brakes.

Wow. Thanks for the quick response..

If i loosen the 2 screws holding the brakes, wont the screws loosen and fall out upon vibrationm?

ALso, B072 is a thick orange washer type bushing.. I dont believe it fits there.. Maybe I have the wrong part..

the screws may only need a 1/4 turn back from tight.

the b072 bushing should be silver.never seen an orange one.

Okay I got the brakes going with tiny bit of drag.. but that should be fine..

So the manual doesnt specifiy where to put B072 correct?

The silver ones u posted are the same as what i'm mentioning.. guess mines just orange..

If i stick it where u specified.. I wont have enough room to put the bolt in..

Would it be an optional thing since I'm using a metal spur gear? Looks like theres a bushing on the metal spur already..

I also have the X SS kit and the bushing that you have is left over. Not sure where it goes. I have looked all over and could not find a place for it. Im a ASE certified tech and follow directions very well and could not find it. I have been running my ss kit for about 3 weeks now with no problems. Maybe its for teh plastic spur setup.

Almost done.. but i've got another question about a part and didnt want to open a new thread.. I've got a Cap Head Screw Part 94398.. I've got no idea where it goes.. not used in the instructions.. and i've got extra screws left from each package.. should i go back and check? or extra screws in the packages are normal?

You will have extras. I had a few extras and went bazerk looking for where they go. I called HPi and they said I will have some extras. Did you make sure to locktite all metal on metal screws? Also locktite all the screws on the diff cases. I had all 4 screws on the diff case back off on my sons savage X and it destroyed the diff. Now im waiting for a new diff assembly.

just to clarify.. extra parts in the lettered baggies right? Not the spare parts baggy..

I got too anxious to build it and I havent gotten a radio.. so i'm just putting the screws in loose until i pick up the servos to stick in..

Any idea about the Cap head screw.. it looks identical to the screw holding the top part of the suspension.. but longer.. M3x55mm

Off the top of my head, the only cap head screw longer than the top shock screw is for the top of the roll bar.

Also I know you were told to back out your two break screws a 1/4 turn to get play but if the two washers are in right (the black and silver one) they allow play with the screws tight. Look into that.
