You only need regulators if you are using batteries over 6V like LIONS. A123 do not need regulators.

You may need to make the battery connector into DEANS instead of the J type.

The RX typically velcros to the power exanper. There are 2 (3) wire plugs on the expander. The rest are single wire plugs. The 2 plugs give you power to the RX. You can still plug a servo into the power expander on the channel that the 3 wires are on.

Clear as mud?

The power expander regulates voltage to the receiver to 5 volts and sends full voltage from the batteries to the servos.

If you are talking about the Sport Plus it has a reg built in for the receiver only, fail safe (if you add on the switch), ignition kill, and is all stored in a light weight configuration. Leads and batteries go to the power expander, leads from the power expander go to the reciever.. 2 with power the rest with just signal.

Power Expander sport plus does not have built in voltage regulators. It is used with Nicad, NIMH, or A123 batteries. Power System Sport Plus does have built in voltage regulators. It is used with Lipo, Lith Ion batteries. Battery power input uses JR or Futaba J plug.

It does have a reg.. on the receiver side it sees 5volts.. not the servo side.... That's what I referring to... although now I can see how that can be confusing.

This is exactly why going to the Mfg Web site is always the best answer. No misinformation or misinterpretation.

The power expander sport model does not regulate voltage to the servos.... again, its non-regulated. It does regulate to the receiver, but that's it. Again, the point of these units is to deliver as much amperage at needed to each individual servo. If you are using lipo/lion batteries with the sport model, you'll need regulators unless you want to subject your servos to higher voltage.

They do have a Power Systems versions which do in fact have the regulators and such built in that allow you to run lipos/lions and it will regulate the voltage to the servos. Again, check the manufactures website if in doubt.

PowerSystem Eq6 Plus (with Cutoff Receiver & fiber-optic cable)
$274.95[link=http://www.smart-fly.com/Products/PowerSystems/powersystems.html]smartfly[/link]

This will also allow you to adjust the servos and match them like a JR match box.
Good luck I love my EQ6
