If your using the red 8 cell NiCD 9.6V battery then you just slide in the other battery. Whats this tray you speak of? There is a tray you can buy so you can use AA batteries, if thats what you are talking about. Its simple just take it out, its not rocket science.

mine didnt come with a rechargable battery but a tray for aa batteries. but i've gotten it out since i've made the post
