Default Saito 72 and Tru Turn Spinner

I just received a Tru Turn Spinner and adapter kit (TT-2502-B-120 & TT-0717-A). The instructions say ream a 1/2" diameter hole for the prop nut (PITA!), I did that on an APC 13-6 and now the spinner retainer screw is a bit too long and won't tighten down the spinner, I'll need to cut it.

I looked at doing the same on a master airscrew 13-6 but noticed a 1/2" hole on the front of the prop would go deep enough to expose the 4 prong structure , doesn't look ideal...

I also noticed I could use the original saito washer and prop nut, then use the Tru Turn jam nut for cone screw. The Tru Turn jam nut has the same jam surface as the saito jam nut. With this set-up, no 1/2" hole is required in the prop, much cleaner. Anyone else tried this???

thx
Gator

If you have enough threads for the prop nut and the jam nut, it should work fine. I've read posts about some Saito shafts being too short to get the jam nut on, which is probably why the setup you bought was created.

I agree. There appears to be plenty of threads for the .5" thick APC 13-6 and marginal threads on the .62" thick master airscrew s-2 13-6. I'm gonna try the APC.
thx

I used to have my saito 72 running with a tru turn and didnt have problems with anything but the spinners bolt that was too long for the spinner to bolt on to the lock nut. I just cut it a bit shorter. was running a 12x6 i have since removed the spinner due to a mishap where i didnt put it back on but run a 13x4w now.

yeah, my spinner cone retainer bolt was a tad too long so I cut it also.

the saito washer and prop nut used with the tru turn jam nut has worked perfect for 10 flights. No 1/2" ream required!
