They say the E-maxx does 30+ but it only does 20-25MPH with 6-cell pack then if you upgrade to 7-cell then it does 30+ (probably the same thing with the E-revo)

how many people would pay the extra they'd have to charge to make it brushless to start out? probably not many

if the thing was $650 RTR that would really limit it's sales, especially with the nitro version selling for $450 in many cases

They balanced it so the consumer wouldnt have to pay the steep up-front cost of an RTR equipped with a BL system. It's not a scam, it's smart thinking...

The "scam" is industry wide, I design and build brushless and brushed motors for a living - brushless motors should not cost this much more than brushed motors in any case. Brushless has been around for a while in RC now but they're still gouging us on them as if they're special somehow.

Traxxas does not presently have a brushless system capable of propelling something like the E-revo. You're talking about a truck that weigh nearly 5 kilos. The Velineon wouldn't stand a chance.

Youd have to run dual VXL'S, with lipos, and that would be a pretty penny. I second that traxxas was smart to do it this way.

My Revo is only 4 kilos..lol..On the is it worth it..Only you can really answer that question..I have a Revo that I have sunk a "bunch" of money into..To me it's worth it..maybe to you it's not worth it..It's how much enjoyment it brings to you..money comes and money goes..I look at it like this..right now their are guys that are taking a NITRO revo and converting it to brushless, I looked at the way traxxas has the battery tray and motor set up and I think it's way better than any of the conversions that are on the market right now. I'm quite sure that Novak is already working on a E Revo specific brushless system, Just an opinion..but to me it's worth it if you want to go electric on a Revo..

I narrowed down my decsion to either getting a E-revo or a Platium Revo. I finially back ordered a Plat. Revo. I already have a Revo 3.3 and wanted something I could race (mine has a big block in it). One of the tracks I go to will let you race a E-maxx, but some of the other tracks I go to are a little more picky. I wanted something with a little more speed than 30mph and just having that sound is the icing on the cake. If Traxxas put a brushless in the E-revo from the start it would of made my decsion much harder.

If you want power to make the E-Revo move, go to http://www.teamtekin.com/. they have 2t brushless motors that have higher gear ratio and dont heat up as much. and the best part is that they dont sell for more than $100. on horizonhobby.com its about $80-85.

im getting one for my e-revo[8D]

if you want a bl motor for the e-revo, team tekin has a 2t bl motor for about 80-85 dollars and they are much cooler when they run and are crazy fast!

I think you could repeat all these comments over and over again( oh wait....nevermind). People just dont understand price point marketing. Traxxas has a target market that they have probably found will not pay the premium price of a brushless setup in a RTR. Get over it if you want brushless that bad buy the truck then sell the stock motors and get brushless. Done
Problem solved!!

that motor will never power any sort of monster truck without burning up instantly

Yup...That motor is way too small to handle a revo. I went with this controller and motor for my revo conversion. It's insanely fast of 5s lipo and it's probably the most affordable setup you can get.

WOW, so under a $100 for a 540 size brushless combo? My Dark Impact is telling me he wants it.

i talked to Traxxas the other day and they said that running aftermarket motors is hard 'cause you might have to buy 2 ESC and make them work together or just run a huge motor.
(there working on a single motor plate which is way better)

it all depends on if you wanna mess with nitro..im finding nitro to be a hinderance sometimes
i think if you hate nitro and dont want the pain off fiddling with tuning then the e-revo is nice and those motors are easily upgraded to better electric motors...i know i have an electric converted revo does 60 but i have 600 into 2 electric motors
