RE: Revo 3.3 OR a Savage X ?
With either truck, I definitely say you made a good choice. And I bid you the best of luck and hope you really enjoy RC-ing
As for teh break-in process, I strongly recommend you preheat the engine as hot as possible, as close to 200degrees F. Use a hair dryer or buy a hobby grade heat gun from your RC store. Then start the engine for break-in. Do not be shy to lean it to get the engine running and reach and stay at 200degrees F and higher. Do not keep it super rich, just rich enough to lubricate the engine for the wearing in of the parts during break-in and mantain 200+ degrees F. Of course, do not go too lean either. I also highly recommend the heat-cycling method for initial break-in, this might be diffeent than what the Revo manual says, but you can actually improve the longevity of your engine by heat cycling.
Here is the link for engine break-in (and more, it has excellent tips for engine care, etc.):

I recommend the heat cycle method over traxxas method as well however, if you are completely new to nitro motors you will have to be careful doing the heat cycle method, leaning too much is definitlely not good that means getting a temp gauge if your completely new and montoring it. You will also have to time the motor runs and keep up with that. I would say get a feel for tuning after break in before messing with leaning your motor all over the place.

RE: Revo 3.3 OR a Savage X ?
my first time trying to start it the engine locked up loosened the glow plug spun it locked up again, I went an bought a hair dryer and heated her up bam she started and for my last 2nd last tank I wrapped the engine in paper towel it was a lil cold out by the time I got to tank 5 after recharging my starter battery, but it seemed to go good im gonna rip it up later today. I had the engine hot enough to boil spit dry
My first 5 second full throttle run I hit a dip in the street and flipped it about 12 times end over end fricking awesome!! no damage
then I hit a turn to hard with the braked appyed to hard and bam flipped it again still no damage
Most fun I had ever! way more fun the my electric heli's thats for sure, I am glad I purchased a revo and not a savage.
what are some recommended upgrades? as in filters titanium drive shafts etc, any help would be appreciated.

The stock driveshafts are fine unless your looking for some bling bling. I would reccomend the new Platinum Edition air filter,Platinum Edition Header and then boar out the stinger on the stock pipe. Those 3 mods will wake up the engine. Flipping over around the turns will get annoying so you might want to look into some sway bars and adjust your suspension settings a bit. Also look at some better radio systems such as the spektrum dx2.0,3.0,DX3R all 3 have built in fail safes, and look at some better servos. You dont have to add all of this stuff at once but replace stuff after it breaks.

Loctite your wheel nuts or they will come loose. Swap out the throttle return spring traxxas uses for a lower tension one , its too strong for the stock servo. Over time it will wear out the servo unless you upgrade to a high end servo. Get a failsafe after you toss the spring for a lower tension one. Pull the motor and reverse the clutch shoes for longer life. Start thinking about investing in a new manifold with springs that hold it onto the motor or a new tuned pipe and manifold upgrade. The stock manifold will break off over time due to the weak alum. Traxxas uses and bolts that hold it on. In the long run you will be glad you did these few things, if anything it will save you a headache later. I Suggest these things for all new revo owners

If you've not driven a savage- don't say stuff like this. I guarantee you if you had bought a Savage you'd still be saying you were having fun. You'd say you were having fun if you bought a Aftershock, LST2, T-Maxx, MGT, ETC. ETC. ETC.
Take care of ANY of the trucks made my quality manufacturer and they will take care of you.
With that, keep having fun with your new Revo

One is an apple, the other is an orange they both taste great.
Savage is more of a "Monster Truck" Revo is more of a "Baja 1000 desert truck" you can mod them both to be anything you want. Both companies have great support. Both have engine replacement programs. Both have tons of parts and mods everywhere.
good luck

So when they say clean your engine with WD40 and compressed air, should that be done after each time your done using it?
I was under the impression that WD40 is a degreaser? is that not good for the piston if you don't blow it all out? or can I just drop some after run oil down into the glow plug whole after use which is what I have done after my break in process and ripping it around after that.
I honestly find this Rc to have almost to much power top speed its intense, but I like it!
Time to buy a Savage

If the truck is diry then blow it off with a air compressor, espicially around the carb and around the glow plug (do this before you take out the glow plug and take off the air filter) and then put aro or wd-40 down the glowplug hole and down the air intake and crank the engine over and clean your air filter after every run time.

Wouldn't WD40 be bad to add to your engine being a degreaser and all?
I think I will stick with my after run oil and when I do clean the engine I will use WD40 for that but I will blow it out with compressed air then add my aro.

Can you add the Parma Grave Digger Body on the Revo with the body Parma body posts.
Has anyone done this to their Revo and have it still be durable when it rolls?
I like the Revo but it looks lower to the ground.
I think I am going to get the Revo over the Savage because of the handling and parts availability. I would like to change the stance of it and make it look more like a monster truck.
I just want a really tough truck to bash, and that looks like a real monster truck.
