flying without flybar weights
has anybody fly without flybar weights? what are the advantages of it? i keep hearing that it makes your bird flys alot better in 3D.

RE: flying without flybar weights
Weights slow down cyclic response. The farther out the more they slow it. Obviously, slow cyclic response, and 3d flying don't go together well.
If you want to experment slide them inwards. If you take them off completely I'd add some expo, around 25 percent or so, so that the center of the stick isn't too sensitive, adjust for preference from there.

What Baracuda said!
I personally took my flybar weights off a few months ago and don't use expo. I love it that way....it's very responsive and crisp and does exactly what I tell it to do when I tell it to.

I took them off my 450 after my last crash and needed a new fly bar. I flew it for the first time last evening and today. I feel it fly's better and had no problems what so ever. I dont use expo, at least yet.

RE: flying without flybar weights
Generally you add Flybar weights to the Heli to slow down cyclic response, creates a heavier rotating mass = Heli becomes less sensitive and more dosile.
Weights fitted up to the flybar paddles will reduce sensitivity the most. You can move both towards the Head to fractionally increase sensitivity/responsiveness.
If there's too much of a rotating mass on the flybar, 3D flying (loops etc) will be slower and not so tight, which could result in a crash.
Ideally for flying 3D you want your Heli as nimble and fast as possible, so it can be thrown into manouvers with confidence.

RE: flying without flybar weights
I had completely forgotten about that. I keep seeing all these really responsive loops and rolls and i can't seem to get them lke that no matter what i do! I guess i'll take the weights off and see how much of a difference that maks. thanks for the post!

one more question before i try it. will removing the weights make it harder to recover from losing orientation? I'm a novice at rolls and flips. i can do them but not always. i have had a lot of crashes due to flips and rolls.

RE: flying without flybar weights
after flying today w/o them, it seems alot easier and takes alot less height to do a roll/loop. i almost over corrected though, but that was on me.
