What Is A Good Steering Servo?
I have a T-Maxx 2.5 and I think the steering servo is getting a little worn out... Also I am thinking about putting 40 series wheels on my T-Maxx so a better servo would help turn with the bigger wheels...
Thanks links are great

Hitec 645MG is a good upgrade, but if you are going to run 40's, look for the one with the most torque you can afford. Just remember if you are running the stock steering setup, you will need a different servo saver, unless you can find at Futuba servo to meet your needs. The splines on the servos very, but the Kimbrough one has 3 inserts.

I do agree that they can be a little loud. Never had the other problems though. You shoud hear the Futaba S3003 I have in throttle for my T-maxx, you can hear it from 20ft away[&:] I just ordered 2 mg995's to replace the servos in my T-maxx, I just hope my radio system isnt glitching, it looks like it might be[:@]

RE: What Is A Good Steering Servo?
Id recommend "ACE" servos, they underate their own servos they say 178oz but its more like 270, and very quite.
Tower hobbies sells "Hobbico" servos they are much cheaper then "Hi-tecs". but "Hobbico" are just relabled "Hi-tec" servos
But Id say get a DS1313, if I hold my wheels still the servo will totally flex over my servo saver like its not even there.

RE: What Is A Good Steering Servo?
Ok, I was just looking around on tower and I really have no idea where to start, there are servos with different speeds, torques, and I dont know what! Can someone give me a link to a servo that can move 40 series wheels, not rolling, setting on the ground, a servo that can do that easily, and is not more then like 60 bucks.
Thanks
Thanks

RE: What Is A Good Steering Servo?
From what I have read you want atleast 150 oz of torque for a steering servo. Thats not written in stone but thats what the majority of the threads about racing have said. I have also seen that to race you want atleast 200 oz minimum for the steering servo so Im taking it as personal prefrence and some people just like to get the top of the line best equipment for their rigs. I was going to get the Hitec 645 but to be on the safe side I opted for the hs-5645 its only 50 dollars handles more torque than the 645 and I have them in both my buggy and revo (Single servo mod) with no problem. Just dont be cheap and if you have some spare money you may want to try the lesser known or used brands and see how they work out for you. Some people have good luck with them some dont but if you want to go with something established get the 5645mg.

Buy a Digital Traxxas Steering Servo on Ebay. One that's pulled from a NEW 4908 Tmaxx. I did for my old 3.3 and it improved the steering. If it was turning the tires @ 20% before, they are now turning @ 85%. Just something to think about. Don't take my word for it. It worked for me tho. Good luck!-John

I had a Tower PRO MG995 and it was a great servo. No problems at all with it.

I use the MG995 in all my trucks with no problems. Pretty powerful at 208 oz/.13 sec @6v. You can get them for about 20-25. All BB and metal gears.
