Default Exhaust question???

Anybody ever tried high temp silicone around the pipe at the transom?
Or is there some kind of gasket they make to clamp the pipe in place?
just curious

Default RE: Exhaust question???

I have used Permatex Ultra Copper High Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker, with no problems. I am running a water cooled pipe though.

I run a hot pipe, I have cut up an old work leather glove into strips and it has been working great.

use some silicone exhaust tubing the type they use for nitro, ive used it lots of times it works great i then make the hole in the transom a snug fit and it holds pretty well. You should still use a pipe stop at the other end though to stop your pipe moving in or out.

I am using Permatex ultra copper right now in my Rio 51. I had to hog out the ex exit hole to relieve preloaded tension and am using it to seal/hold the pipe in the transom and its been holding for 1 1/2 gals so far.

I'm running a hot pipe and used a standard marine silicone sealant and it's working fine so far (about 4 tanks).

thanks a bunch guys I am going to try black dodge grease that works awesome for tranny leaks.
If that does not work the exhaust tube from an 1/8 scale will be cool.
