Rio 51 Primer bulb won't fill
The Primer bulb on my Rio 51 is not working properly. When I press the bulb it will push the fuel back into the tank and not fill it. Any suggestions? Thanks

When I designed the tank I put both lines on the bottom of the tank. you can not hook them up backwards.. Why did I do this you ask?.. Cuz it got me ONCE TOO.. but just ONCE.

OK, I fess up, here's my act of Newbiness with gas boats. Note the fuel line, a single coming from an IV bag. Hey, I hooked it up to the fuel barb that was right there! It was a good thing that I had an experienced gas boater with me who noticed it otherwise it would have never started!
Alright Mike, what could be the problem with his primer?[sm=confused.gif]

RE: Rio 51 Primer bulb won't fill
Ron,
I dont know... ya got to ask.. how many times is he pressing it.. ?
On a new boat it can be MANY... I have had were its like what the heck and then. her she comes..
Two or three times on a new boat wont get it done.
It might be fuel tank plastic in the line. They are soposto clean the tank out but we all know how that can go. Maybe there is junk in the line.. switch the lines and try again. This will blow the junk out of the what was the inlet line.
Maybe the seal is bad on the bulb. I have never seen this however.
Keep up the good work.

RE: Rio 51 Primer bulb won't fill
Thanks guys. I have been pressing and pressing the bulb and will only get about a quarter of the bulb filled. When I first for the boat she would fill up to the top after 3-5 pushes. I took the carb apart and only found a little junk in the screen, but all the inlets and holes are clear. I called hobby services today and they told me that only having a little bit in the bulb is ok, that just doesn't seem right to me. I have only been able to use this boat three times and I have had it for about two months now, due to the fact of the lack of patience and skin left on my fingers trying to start it. Anyone in the Connecticut area have better luck that can help me?
