Default rudder dings

I hit something the other day and dinged my rudder. What's the best way to fix it and will it affect the performance if I smooth it out but still have a little indention?

a pic would help, but it should be fine. just put a edge back on it.

dremel or bench grinder works good too if you have some power tool skills.
