RE: G26ei or G26 magneto
I bought mine from RC Ignitions for the same reasons that you stated. No starter necessary. When one is older, things like carrying a starter, which once was physically insignificant, can make all of the difference between a good day at the field and being too tired to fly. Ditto walking to the frequency pin board when you are flying on 2.4 GHz.
I do agree that the stock magneto equipped G26 is a terrific engine and that an electric starter can make short work of starting it.
Why Zenoah chose that power hungry ignition system for their G20 and G26 engines is a mystery to me. How could that unit be cheaper enough to put on otherwise excellent engines with excellent reputations? I wouldn't think that there would be that much difference in price, versus the ill will that doing such a thing creates. Users buy the G20 with an idea toward having a gas engine that is light enough to fly smaller models - but which is saddled with the need for an extra large battery. Makes no sense to me.

My sentiments exactly Ed, and though Toni Clake recommends 1 single cell lipo to get around the battery weight issue, there are several like myself who shy away from using lipos like the plague.
It is surprising that with all the negative arguments that have been made about the Zenoah's ignition since it first appeared on the G20, that the design was not revised for use on the G26. Possibly the suits who make these corporate decisions don't visit relevant chat forum or have their ears to the ground. Or maybe we are such a small neiche market they just don't care.
