If you take an exacto saw and cut a small notch in the pull tab it will be a lot easier to operate by using your fingernail to engage the latch.

Ya, I've been down that road, I'm just not happy with their latch. I had an F-15 TG I bought from Roger Kirchner, I noticed the latches on that jet were siginifcanly better than the BVM ones. Roger's out flying Southwest right now, so I can't ask him. But if they came with the TG kit when he built it, those are deffinately the ones I want for the ISOBAR. Or are there other alternatives???????

Sean, Y/A sells one that looks just like BV's, except it has a significantly longer "pull tab". I have to agree with you about the BV one being too short.
Grapner also sell one (red) with a huge pin and long handle. The only problem I have had with that one is, one disintegrated in my hands and the only theory we came up with was something got on it (Jet-A or whatever). I now just make sure I have it completely covered with epoxy or aeropoxy and I have had no problems with them since.
Hope this helps.

hatch latch
I like the Hobby Lobby red ones as a first choice. My PA came with BVM latches and used them, cut notch like Rich said in his post. I noticed Andy Low has one too, have not tried any from him.

Hi All, thanks for all the help. I ended up ordering 12 of the Hobby Lobby ones. The trim latch appears to me to be no larger on the pull/push tab than the BVM. I don't know who's designing these things, but seems to me the better that tab sticks out the fuse/canopy/hatch etc. the easier it is to operate the darn thing. On my bvm latches, I was always dremeling things, or digging my finger nail down on the thing to operate it. On my F-15 it came with what I believe are the Hobby Lobby latches. They work awesome and we'll be showing them off at MS Afterburner for those that want to see what we did. Thanks All, Sean.
PS: Great thread responses! I didn't know there were so many ways to get this issue resolved. And didn't know about the TRIM ones in Australia. Thanks for the info.
