Aluminum Clutch Shoe Question
Has anyone experienced any kind of problems with using aluminum clutch shoes on a Mugen MBX-4? I have installed these on mine and I have fioroni diffs in front and center and another torsen diff in rear and when I accelerate, it seems as if the shoes don't make good contact with the clutch bell. I have checked all diffs and they are tight and smooth. I see no other signs of any misadjustments. Is this just a known problem with the aluminum clutch shoes? Any suggestions?

Aluminum Clutch Shoe Question
Alum. clutch shoes are for people that dont mind waisting money on shoes and bells every 3 or 4 runs. The alum. wears off the shoes and sticks all over the bell trashing both, your better off using the composite shoes they are a third of the price and last like 10 times longer and you can still reuse the bell.

Aluminum Clutch Shoe Question
Actually, it sounds horrible. I was out running the other day and it sounded so bad that I shut down the engine. It sounded like two metal gears grinding. The car had very very bad acceleration and had a high pitched squeal to it. I have not run the car since, but I have went completely through the car to make sure that all gear mesh was correct and that nothing was loose. I think I am going to go back to the original carbon shoes. The only problem I have with the carbon shoes is after a few runs the holes that go around the pins on the flywheel elongate then I get premature clutch engagement. I am using some 1.1 springs but they dont seem to help against the premature engagement when using the standard composite shoes. Thats the ONLY reason I tried the aluminum.

Aluminum Clutch Shoe Question
Havent ever had a problem with the pin holes elongating, you might be using the wrong type shoes for the flywheel your running. Maybe try a different type shoe (different manufacturer) and see if that will solve your problem. I can ususally get at least 3/4 to a gallon of fuel per set of shoes and springs and I run top end race engines with LOTS of power. I have noticed that some shoes have diffferent size holes so check out the fit, they shouldnt be loose on the pins but should be a good fit.

Aluminum Clutch Shoe Question
I am using the clutch shoes from Mugen for the Mugen MBX-4 and the Mugen flywheel. I run only RB Concepts or JP Modified engines so I know POWER, lol. I usually get about 2-3 tanks or so then I will have to change shoes.
