What are your Dp extra weighing?
Anybody that has a DP extra 330 can you please post your weight and what engine your running. I have one and was planning on running a brison 3.2. I have seen one fly with this combo and it had plenty of power but I am concerned about the wing loading. Any advice is welcome.

HI CAPTHIS I have an old DP Extra 330 with a DA 50. The dry weight is 16.1 lbs. At this weight the plane floats and flies very light. Any 3D stuff and the plane does not lose any altitude. Way overpowered and rockets from an aborted hover.

No worry, just mount it! Mine weighs 16lbs with zdz 40 and weight is NOT an issue. I am really suprised with the power of that engine on a 16lb plane. Pleasantly suprised I might add.....

I have the 2nd generation kit. It has a DA 50 in it, and it weighs 15.5 lbs. Wing loading is 29.2 oz/sqft, which is perfectly acceptable. Slows down for landing just fine.
I saved a little weight by adding graphtech carbon fiber gear. I would NOT recommend it.....the first gear delaminated and had to be replaced. The second has stayed together so far but makes the plane VERY bouncy on landing (compared to the stock gear.)

I too have a first gen. DP 330L. It weighs in at 16 lbs and some change.
It has a ZDZ 40 mounted on the nose. No lack of power!
I am very happy with this combo.
Cheers

i used to weigh 15 lbs 5 oz with d-light batteries. i now am running NMHi so i suppose i am 16 lbs and a few oz. I am running a 22 x 8 Menz on a Brison 3.2 power is great. The plane has 1200 sq inches so it can haul that 16 lbs around with out a problem. i just received a 22 x 8 bambula so i will have to try that baby out.... this will be my 1st bambula prop.....
BGarrison what prop are you running on your ZDZ?

Prop
Krayzc, I am running a Bambula 20X10 on the ZDZ 40. It is the best mix of Rpm:thrust:vibration out of my Zinger Pro 20X10 and Mejzlik 20X9.
I like the Bambula props... They are fat (as in camber, not chord...although they do have a wider chord than most) and very stiff. They are not RPM Kings ...but my 20X10 pulls like no tomorrow.
Premium/HP2 32:1, Bambula 20X10, 6480 rpm @ 120' ASL and 75 Deg.
I have ordered one for my ZDZ80
Cheers

Today i tried the 22 x 8 bambula on my Brison 3.2. RPM was the following:
22 x 8 Menz 7150
22 x 8 Bambula 6930
The Bambula is not as fast as the Menz but it pulls harder from a dead stop. It will also let the plane fly slower in knife edge. It seems to lock in very strong for 3d work, the Menz is no slouch in 3d but i like the bambula over the Menz for this Motor for now......
Has anyone else compared the 2?
