Default Glue on Canopy

I accidently got some Zappa-Dappa-Goo on the canopy of my f-86.
Anyone know a way to get it off?
I'm hoping I can peel it off.
If I have to sand it, will clear coat restore the shine?
I remember hearing about some furniture wax too, but I don't remember what kind it was.

I believe the wax you refer to is Future floor wax/polish. It seems you out to be able to peel the glue off without any damage though.

Kerosene will soften up Zap-a-dap-a-goo very quickly (at least it did when I had a fuel leak in my airplane) and it should not hurt your canopy either.

Kerosene sounds good, I've got lots of that.
That's a good suggestion, I'll give it a try tonight.

Frank suggested de-natured alchohol.
That might be good too.

Thanks for the help you guys.

To answer your other question, if you have to sand it. Yes, a clear coat will restore the clear appearance. Just use a very fine sandpaper. I have had to sand scratches out of a canopy when I landed upside down (don't ask). The whole canopy was sanded to a light haze. Once I cleared it, it looked like a new one.

Thanks for the help guys.
I was able to peel some of it off, but the best way was the kerosene. Took it off good as new.
I'll have to remember that one.

Default buffing canopies

Hi there

Try Dremel polishing compound and the polishing mop attachment.

It's so good, you might have to do the whole canopy as the bit you clean ends up shinier than the rest.

A belt sander with 40 grit sandpaper would have been a lot faster.
