Default power inverters

I am looking at a power inverter to use at the flying field to warm up batterys , coffie, etc. Does anyone one or have sugestions on which to buy or what size to get.

One think I need to find out is, if I go to a bigger inverter is it going to draw more amps from the battery even if I only run a little 50 Mah wall charger . My friend has a 400 watt (800 peek) inverter, I was thinking of going a little larger but if its going to draw more amps from the battery than what I need. I'll stick with the 400 watt one

....why not use get a small gasoline generator ? You can have plenty of power, and
charge the batteries rather than drain them.

I have a 400 watt one that i used to use. It worked okay i guess. Never killed the battery. I don't use it anymore. I think it is still kicking around in my basement.

Just look out for the deer in Quincy.

I have a big deep cycle battery that I take to the field with me and my truck has a heavy duty elect system for pulling trailers. I just wanted to use it when I needed to, not on a regular charging mode. I've looked at them and the 400 watt ones are not that much and I did use my friends once and think it would be handy to have. I plan to get one just wonder which would be the best brand to get and the size to our rc stuff.
The deer better look out for me, I'm at the head of the food chain and I like it that way!!!!!!!

The generater idea is ok , but they are way more money and the noise is just not worth it, I can run my truck with a big inverter . Another problem with the generater is they are large and need to be maintained and used from time to time. It would be another thing to maintaine, where the inverter is about the size of a big book.

Sticks,

For the batteries you'll be fine.
12 volts times 3000 mAh is about 36 watts
Plenty of room to spare.

For the coffee pot - I'm not so sure.
Heaters draw a lot of current, you may need to go larger here.
Check the rating on the pot and keep an eye/hand on everything.
If the inverter gets warmer than the coffee pot there is a problem.

Good luck and thanks for keeping the noise down,

We use a 600 watter for our fly-ins etc to power computers and printers. It works just fine.

Hi,

Just got home, been gone for a few days.

I was kind of kidding about the coffie, even though I might try it some morning if I had to.

thanks for the info, I just got one . Its a 500 watt with 1000 watts peek. It was on sale for $20 and I could not pass it up. I only plan to use it when I have too, you know warm up a battery etc. I have a field charger also.

Ya, I used to have one of those. May have to get one for fly-in's. I don't know how much a coffie pot draws (110v one that is ). One way or the other I'll have my coffie. Then I fly !!!!!

Sticks, most inverters don't like things like coffie pot, heaters exc as they are seen at as a direct short and inverters don't like that.

Cheers
