JR DS3400g Tail Servo for the Trex 450
For some reason, I am getting too much throw from this servo.
It wants to bind.
All I was is enough throw the move the length of the tail shaft, no more, no less.
What can I do?
I am using the DX7.
Thanks in advance.

What gyro are you using? if it's a 401 and you have the limit set to between 80 and 100% and you're still getting binding in both directions then you need to move the ball on the servo horn closer to the output shaft of the servo. I've never used any other gyro so if it's not a 401 than this might not work. Alan

Does making changes to the radio (DX7) made a dirfference? All it seems to do is slow the servo response down.

The GOLDEN RULE in helis is MECHANICAL FIRST ! !
ALWAYS try to get the adjustments mechanically first; make sure You have the rudder servo horn at exaclty 90 or Dang close with the servo in the center position in RATE MODE.
Center the slider moving the servo back and forth on the boom; Adjust the endpoints at the GYRO limit pot.
If the servo throw is too much after adjusting the GY401 pot limit (optimum for 401 is 80 - 90% and You are less than this to stop the binding) move the ball in one hole on the servo arm and You can adjust the limit up to the optimum.
Is the ball on the horn on the inside or outside of the servo arm; most recommend on the inside for a straighter run, but You may have to grind the upstop (or mushroom stem) on the ball link so it doesn't bind on the servo body when traveling.
You don't need to do anything in the DX-7, You'll only mess it up or cover up the problem.
What You CAN do with the DX-7 is up the rudder endpoints for a faster piro, or adjust between the LEFT and RIGHT endpoints to equal out the piro speed in both directions.
Adjusting the endpoints in the TX will ONLY make it go faster or slower, it WILL NOT increase or decrease servo throw. The GYRO is in charge of that.
All other servos it will, but not the tail that is connected to the 401.
Hope this helps.

Hey, Jeff!
Yea, need that for the sensitivity for sure!
I was in the mindset of adjusting endpoints which I THINK He was trying to do with His radio.
At least I didn't say 'Yank the rudder spring out of the TX!'

super info gary...Thanks guys.
I figured I needed to go mechanically before a radio adjustment.
thanks again!
