what spare parts are most likely to break on the mcx?
i know i probably should have posted this in the mcx thread, but i just ordered a second mcx for my brother and hoped to go ahead and get the spares i will most likely need first with it from the same seller and maybe combine the shipping.
what is most likely to go first in the crashes that are to be expected during our learning phase?

RE: what spare parts are most likely to break on the mcx?
The only thing I have broken is the inner shaft. This was on the used one that I bought which was very abused. The new one I bought has broken nothing.
If I were going to make any recommendations, I would say: Extra batteries and an inner shaft.

Landing skids and tail fin are next. CA will repair the skids most of the time.

nope. dont listen to him. they skids are soo strong and flexible they will never break. you might also want a new swashplate.

RE: what spare parts are most likely to break on the mcx?
the only thing i've ever broken was the flybar and it was because i let a friend try it out. he didn't bring the throttle to idle after he crashed which caused the flybar to snap.
the only damage i've done is the ball link on the top rotor where the flybar connects broke off. i just switched the top blades around and attached the flybar to the other blade.
these things are extremely durable!

lol, @ illusions.
i honestly figured someone would say rotor blades.
i certainly have no experience with helis, as these will be my first.
i guess i just invision swinging the rotors into things and snapping them at their point of attachment.
my cx2 is scheduled for ups delivery friday.
my mcx was shipped usps first class so it shouldnt be far behind.

Hey Drake,
Congrats on the new helis arriving soon...betcha' can't wait for Big Brown to pull up on Friday...lol
You will enjoy the new helis alot...keep us posted on how you make out....
On the MCX parts, I have never broken anything yet...and I have let several complete noobs fly mine, and with some crashes and extremely hard landings...
I have to take krusers side on the skids...I have never broken either one of mine's skids, and the noobs managed some of the hardest landings I have seen in a while...lol...(i.e. chopping the throttle from 6-7 feet up, dropping straight down on concrete), and all that happened was the heli bounced pretty well back up into the air...I won't say they are indestructible, but pretty close...
Keep in mind, I don't have the glow in the dark skids, they may very well be more fragile, since they are a different compostion.
The worst thing that has happened to one of mine is, my buddy was flying it, and crashed into his daughter's head (no injury..lol) and some of her hair got wound around the main shaft, and was pretty difficult to remove...LOL[X(]
Enjoy when they arrive!
Glenn

RE: what spare parts are most likely to break on the mcx?
lol, ouch, hair.
thx doc, i might do a thread on my birth as a pilot, and the crazy adventures that await.
actually, i did have an rc plane about 30 years ago.
it was an extremely light weight thing that was purchased at toys-r-us.
i only flew it twice. the first time, i accidentally made my older brother run into a boat i had parked in the driveway. i wasnt very good with it.
it was flying away and in my attempt to coax it back, buzzed him pretty bad.
the second time i flew it, it flew away.
i never saw it again, but i kept the tx for years with my fingers crossed.
lol, optimism.

3 sets. 1 original, 2 glow in the dark. The black never has broken but then it did not get used much. Still have it. Of the 2 glow skids, 1 had 4 breaks, all fixable but after a while did not look as nice. The 2nd skid has broken twice at the same point. CA and clear heat shrink tubing go a long way in making the repairs. Could be that in making the plastic translucent enough to accommodate the "lightning bug juice" [sm=lol.gif] some flexibility was sacrificed making the material more ridged and prone to breakage.

lol, trust me, i can break them.
actually, i was wondering which spare parts break the easiest, that way i can make sure never to order those.
kidding, you got me, and im not even going to change it. that would kinda rob you of catching it and mentioning it.

I broke a ball link on one of my blades while I was monkeying with it. Not a crash though. I did crack the tail fin, but I just taped it back together. I've crashed mine a lot, and "friends" have crashed it too. Still going.

You can take your CX2 to about 20 feet and then crash on purpose, that way you know what breaks the most. At least thats what my friend did (not on purpose though) , he broke the battery holder, the plastic main frame, bent his outer/inner shafts and cracked his body in more than one place. You should buy [link=http://www.boomtownhobbies.com/BoomTownHobibes_Ultra_Flex_Landing_Skids_p/bth002.htm]BoomTownHobbies unbreakable landing gear[/link], and [link=http://www.flyrcrivesud.com/upgrade_parts2.html]RIVESUD's unbreakable battery holder[/link].
