octura 7016 vs propshop 7016
i now the propshop is prepared and ready to race compare to the octura, but my question is which one is the better performance prop. i want to race it on a 45'mono with a 25.4 sikk and a 2'band pipe. thanks for any replies. 3 bladers is not working on my hull, chine walking and loose in turns. octura 472 works ok looking for more speed but must be stable.[>:]

These two props are VERY different. Only side by side testing will tell which is the better choice ..... Tho I will say likely it would be the PS or VD prop, they are a really good prop on monos !!

RE: octura 7016 vs propshop 7016
Probably doesn't matter but I'll toss it in anyhow.
On my clutched boat I had been running a similar prop to the X470 octura and then switched to the 7016. The first thing that was substantially noticable was the way it hooked up from a dead stop and stabbing the gas to WFO. The 7016 had lots of slip where the other would instantly hook up and go. Top end running on that particular boat left nothing noticable with the eye so I never bothered futher testing.
In my case, I made a big deal about how the prop hooked up from a dead stop almost as if drag racing. After getting educated with boats a little more, what did I care how it comes on plane when most of the time running is spent at speed.
Thinking out loud as always but still a valid point.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif][sm=47_47.gif][sm=49_49.gif][sm=biggrin.gif][sm=cool.gif]

RE: octura 7016 vs propshop 7016
Btw, I've got an X670 in my box that I ran this past August. Its got a lot more tounge area/blade area, than the 7016. Plus the blade looks as if it has more of a straight profile where the 7016 has more of a back cut by just a few degrees. The first thing I do with any Octura prop is typically remove the excess (tounge) and profile it a tad smaller.
Just run them both and find which ones works for you. Keep it in your box as it might be beneficial to another hull.

RE: octura 7016 vs propshop 7016
I am running a X670/2 on my mico burst that Andy Brown did and it works very well, fast. By the way it is far from stock. back cut and pitched up and cupped.
I also run the 7018/3 on the same size boat and it works very well stock.
Has any one had balance problems with the Voodoo props, seems they are way out; and takes a while to balance?
Thanks.
