Default BVM sport wheel with 1/4 in. axles?

Hello,

Has anyone figured out how to modify BVM sport wheels/brakes to use a 1/4 inch axle?

Thanks in advance,

It won't work without a custom bushing. I looked at it pretty hard. (at least I could not figure out how to do it)

I am in the process of making a new wheel for that application with 1/4" axle or 3/16", but I'm not sure when it will be complete.

I ordered some of those Matt and they work pretty good. I used them on my old F-15 gear and had to drill them out a little to a metric size but they are good bushings, good price too.

Matt,
If memory serves me, there is not enough wall on the wheel to drill them out for 1/4" bushing. Could be done but it would move the bushings closer together and not sure you wind up with enough surface area in width by doing so.

Sean, if you're going to be cobbling up new wheels, why not consider enough material in the hub area to accommodate perma lubed flanged bearings? [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX3284&P=7]Here's an example [/link]from Tower Hobbies. I was able to counterbore some other mfgr wheels to take the 3/16" ID version of these bearings and the wheels are still going strong. Just my 2¢ worth.

Dont know about .50... you get what you pay for in a bearing. Cheapies will fail quick on our wheels

Hmmm....
One method I haven't seen tried is a needle bearing? Wonder why...
