Duratrax Axis idling too high out of box
Hi, I'm having a problem with the idle speed of the Duratrax Axis' out of the box. It idles way way way too high. I have to turn the throttle adjustment all the way down and push the trigger on the radio all the way forward in order to keep the car still.
Letting the trigger free, the car is probably running at 3/4 speed, which, on the first run is obviously a major problem since I'm still trying to break it in.
Since I'm fairly new at this, I was reluctant to start messing with those stopper things on the throttle rods since there's 3 of them. I don't know what does what.
I HAVE checked the high-speed needle. It is set exactly 3 turns from fully closed. The engine is a torq 21. Everything is stock. I tried adjusting this needle a bit but it had pretty much no effect.
Thanks for the help.
Jim

Well, it may be your servo arm. Take off the air filter and look at the carburetor when when you have the engine off. How far open is it? When you press forward on the transmitter to brake, does the carb fully close? At idle, there should be a very small opening in the carb, but yours may be to far open. If so, take the throttle pushrod, and unscrew the clevis or what not a couple turns until you are getting a good idle. If this is not it, it is your low end screw. If you do not know where it is, look in the manual. Loosen it 1/2 turn, crank, if still idle, repeat until you get a good idle. If this does not work, take it to your LHS and have them take a look. Justin.

Muchos gracias. I believe you're right that it's the servo arm and/or the low end screw. I wanted to confirm that these adjustments needed to be made and that it wasn't something that I never considered. I'm going to take it to the hobby shop tomorrow and have the mechanic there tune it with me because I'm still pretty new and I don't want to screw up the break in.
Thanks a million. Happy Racing!
Peace,
Jim
