Start with one of these, they are cheap, and they are fairly high quality.

http://www.nitrorcx.com/elofbu.html

Third, later on down the road, you can get something that is better, faster, and nicer, but for now, start with something cheap, and inexpensive to fix. Because you will break something with your first one, it's just the way it is, I did, and I am sure that 99.9 percent of everyone ells on here did to.

not sure what you question is ... is it how to start a nitro car? heres the anser
well have all your equipment ready. batterys fully charged in your radio, glow starter, and if it has starter box or roto/easy start have that ready
turn on the radio
fuel the car up with nitro and prime it
put the glow starter on and pull the starter or w/e is used to start the car if you have every thing right it should start right up

if you are looking for a car to start on most people will recommed a car by HPI

I saw a thing on the news where they were talking about people like this. There are a bunch of people in the new generation that can only grasp typing the in short hand text messaging way that so many young people have adopted. So sad. If anyone has seen the movie "Idiocracy", you can be kind of scared where this could lead us....

I am scared. It's also very insulting to those of us who still take the time to spell words properly, use punctuation, and only use numerals where appropriate.

This whole thread seems kinda fishy.... you know? I really dont think even someone with english as a second language would use the words "dis" and "dat" ... just saying.... In any case, use less "txt sp3k" and you will get more help, its REALLY annoying....

They are saying that they do not believe that you are who/what you claim to be. They believe that your posts are contrived. That the language and manerisms in your posts seem more like someone who's posing as a non-english speaking person rather than one someone who really does not have english as a first language.
I'm not saying they are correct but I can see their point.

Also, please stop with the "text short hand/sp3k", it's so unnecessary, hard to read and annoying.

i saw details of an o.s. engine of 3.6 cc (as it suits the criteria of being less than 4.5cc) but it costs to much....the model was MAX-21VZ-R Ver II...

Well, I really don't understand what you are asking.
Are you asking for reccomendations for a complete car or truck? Or just for an engine? Do you want to actually build it (the RC) from scratch or from a kit or would a car that is ready to run (RTR) work for what you want. Also what do you want to use it for? Is it for racing, bashing or is it for a school project or something else? Why do you want something under 4.5cc? Also, what price range are you trying to stay in?

Asyou can see you really have not given enough info yet for people to make good reccomendations for you. Maybe if you were to ask the question again - in a clear manner - and include some more details of what your goals are it will help you get some more helpful answers.

i am a student...i need to build a car...as i want to learn the basics i would like to build its components myself..that's from scratch....and if u think that it won't be possible to build the components then sugesst me from where should i buy these...

actually at present i am just preparing for an event that specifies that i can't use an i.c. engine in my rc car of more than 4.5cc.

i wanted recommendations on "how should i begin"....as i said i tried it by searching on internet ..so i thought that first i should look for a nice engine....i got MAX-21VZ-R Ver II....thought this will suit my need.....

if i succeed in making such a car then i would continue this and try to make a car for any racing event..

Making the car from scratch is not impossible. Lots of people have done it. But it really requires a pretty good knowledge of RC's and access to a small machine shop with cnc equipment is a huge help.

I would suggest that you look into a kit type of vehicle to allow you to learn how one goes togeather and the form and function of it all. They will come with all the parts you need and instructions for assembly. Many kits will still need to have an engine and radio equipment as well which will leave you some room for customazation. Then, if you still want to build from scratch, you'll have a much better idea of what is needed.
I would very much suggest that you decide on the style, size and type of vehicle yu want before you decide on an engine.
The RC company Tamiya makes many, many very good kits. An internet search using their name should get you lots of ideas of what's available. Also, maybe some others will chime in with suggestions.
Good luck with your project

I agree, you cant just jump into something like building an RC car from scratch without prior RC car experience... that would be like one day you decide you want to be an architect, but you have never built a house... how good do you think the building you make then would be? You need to at least have experience with an actual RC car before you do something like this...

does it have to be 100% scratch built? because if you can use RC parts like bearing carriers and gearboxes, then its doable without a machine shop... you just need to learn how to braze and have access to a drill press....
