blade cx2
ok fellows... somebody helped me last time but still problems..... changed shafts, inner and outer, ggot it back together really easy with some helpfull video on google. then call horizen and found out flybar was bent.... replaced that and still no steady hover!!!!! AND it still wobbles no where as bad as before but some...... I'm thinking that it might be the gain and pot mixer.... i kind of messed with both trying to get it trimmed at the beginning before i read all the postings about level swashplates and things.....what i would like ideally is all trim on rc to be set dead center but so far no luck..... hovers but slowly drifts one way or the other depending how trim is and no matter what no stable hover...... any ideas out there?

RE: blade cx2
Same problem. When I look at the shaft from above with power up, there should be almost a perfect circle spinning. I have got a perfect triangle. I took it apart and checked for bends. Couldnt find any. Next I'm going to change both shafts and gears. I took it to two repair guys. They didnt have any idea. I have another cx2 that someone else mod'd. It spins perfectly. so it can be done. It could be a loose screw or a pair of screws that are not tightened consistantly. That's hard to judge. Flybar too tight or not tight enough. Blade screws. Doesnt seem likely but its a possibility. I'll let you know if I figure it out.

Hi,
have you checked your and or replaced ANY of your blades in the heli repair. REMEMBER they must be balanced. Also at the root of the blade there is a number or leter (just one) to tell you if they came from the same bag! whether they did ot not they can be HUGELY off in their "each" weight. I asuume uoi know ho to check your blades for balance but her is a video if you dont.
I just repair a CX3 for a guy here and he had gone through all of your step just like you. He was nube, I dont know what your experience is, perhpas you have done this but the blade condition will act just as you have explained!

There many YOUTUBE CX2 balancing videos, this is just give it a look see

RE: blade cx2
First step:
1) flybar weights are on correct position yet? Flybar is bent? If its all ok...go to next...
2) Pull off all blades and flybar. So, Turn on heli and slowly go increasing power until 1/2 throttle. Now, with the left stick, spin outer and inner shaft. looking from above...how did you notice the shafts spinning?

RE: blade cx2
FWIW... Blade weight seems to vary on the the CX2... I popped $12 for a gram-weight scale on eBay, weighed and matched the replacement blades, and she hovered nicely a couple of days ago.
ALSO... Don't be afraid to mess with the trim & gain pots... My impression is that the "factory settings" have a way of getting out of whack over many flights. Much as I hate it, I've spent about 90 minutes of "bench-time" for every 60 minutes in the air. But things are improving as I become familiar with the machine... Figure I'll be down to a 30/60 ratio soon! Stick with it! Once you "know" your chopper, you'll "know" what's needed!!!!

RE: blade cx2
check to make sure the swash plate is together all the way. if it has come apart any at all it will be very difficult to fly and will not be steady at all

Here you go Jimbo. when you say controller I have to think you mean you transmitter radio (TX) as they are called in heli language.

But on the good side i did finally get an almost decent hover out of this blade cx2... except it still creeps around a bit and i cant figure it out..... no place to fly in doors except small garage and to windy out here in texas right now..... plus i really need the space to get more use to the controls and just how to fly the thing

Well good luck there jimbo56.
I just flew a friends brand new CX2 tonight! Sweet, mine is old and is still really a hot and fun too to fly, but a brand new one...nice! Understand, it is a CX2 not ansd MCX. a CX2 will hold a hover and just sit there even in the house. Oh it a is a dang good hover but she will creap around unlike the MCX. It will hover and you can go get a berr and shes is still where you left her LOL.
Have Fun!

RE: blade cx2
Thinking of getting a CX2, what other options are there to charging more than one battery at a time with stock charger. I have a Ion Cube and a Hobbico Peak charger , can one of these be used(I'm new to Li-on Batt). Is there a muti battery charger available like the one available for the MCX. Can the TX that comes with the CX2 be used on the MCX (BNF). Yeah, I know....I don't have my first Heli yet and planning on a second one

RE: blade cx2
Ah I see you're already thinking about what you're gonna do between battery charges. Good thinking. My experience with the charger that comes with the CX2 is that it can take up to two hours to recharge the 800mah LiPo battery from min to full.
I am a noobie, but not a virgin. I've crashed enough times and replaced enough parts and fixed things enough to feel comfortable with the hobby. But I'm still learning a LOT. Fixing things is part of the hobby to be sure!
My friend recommended I buy a better balancing charger if I'm going to be serious about the hobby and plan to upgrade to other bigger models. So I purchased a Cellpro 4S Charger, 12V Power Supply Combo (LIPOCH4S-PS12) along with the Cellpro 4s Charger to Great Planes or Kokam Adapter (CP-GP/KO). The charger isn't cheap. The charger and power supply combo cost $75.95 and the adapter cost $9.95. Shipping was $8.05.
Compared to the cost of the CX2, that's a lot. But the charger is capable of handling up to 4 cell LiPo batteries as well as A123 chemistry. Just visited their site and it looks like they're now offering a better product than what I've got for a few dollars more.
Regardless, the rig I've got is detailed at http://www.fmadirect.com/new_applica...rger_info.html
I also bought a second E-Flite battery. Now that I've learned more I might have considered some slightly cheaper and more better options but whatever.
So here's what I do. I get out my heli, and put one battery on the CellPro, and the other on the E-flite charger. The batteries are stored at 50% (automagically by the CellPro from the last time when I put the things away). I set the CellPro on "2C" auto option, which charges the 1C LiPo at up to and just slightly above 1C sometimes. It takes less than 35 minutes to charge up the one on the CellPro. When the first one is done, I shift the other one from the e-Flite and stick it on the CellPro. Typically it has charged to the low 70% range by then (see the difference?).
I then fly my CX2, trying not to crash. I usually get 10-12 minutes of flying time. After shutting down, the second battery has charged at least to 95% or higher, which is good enough. It takes a LONG time to get that last 1-2% in and it's not worth the time.
After giving the heli and the used battery time to cool a bit, I stick the drained battery on the CellPro and fly on the second battery.
By the time that battery is spent I get my first break, since the first battery is typically still less than 50%. I let the warm battery cool down and stick it on the e-Flite and wait. If I had a third battery, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to fly continuously except for a reasonable cool down time for the CX2. I could shorten that if I put on the heat sink which I haven't yet.
As I mentioned earlier, the CellPro has a mode that automatically recharges to 50% and stops all ready for storage. So when I'm on my last flight, I have the other battery charging in STORE mode. When I'm done flying on the other battery it doesn't take too long before I've got everything ready for storage. Notice that I keep talking about the status there's an LCD panel that displays key data with a selectable switch. Oh yes you can also by an interface for your PC and you can plot the progress of your battery. I don't see the point in doing this for a micro, but I'm guessing it becomes more important when you get to the larger batteries and you in competition.
Hope this helps. I fully understand your eagerness to look beyond your first heli. We all do!

RE: blade cx2
jimbo,
Hope you get help. Don't give up. It's just overwhelming at first if you don't have anyone around who can help.
Don't forget to call the e-Flite tech support line. They are very good and very patient with noobies. They will even call you back if you can't stand to wait on hold. I called them once and they zeroed right in on my problem. I think I waited about 15-20 minutes, but it was clear how you could give them a number for a call back. I had a separated swashplate (which is common after minor crashes), but didn't know enough about what to look for. I just snapped it back in place and I was back in the air. Your issues may well be similar so don't give up.
I live in Houston and can call anywhere no charge. Let me know if the other guy (forgot his handle and can't look back from here) somehow doesn't connect. I'm sure he's more experienced than I.

Mack, thanks! Sounds like a balancing act. Do you have any info on Heli Hobby, they have a great deal on the CX2 and MCX (free batteries w/order).

rico,
For what it is worth..............I live about 2 miles from HeliHobby and they are good people. HeliHobby is their web based store. Their brick and mortar store front is EHOBBY and they are about 4 miles apart from each other. I bought my MCX, T-Rex 500 there and tons and tons of parts.

Wow, that's the same price my wife paid for mine, and all I got was one e-Flite battery. Can't comment on any of the suppliers as I haven't done business with them. Mine came from either HorizonHobby.com or Amazon.com for $180.
Don't forget to order extra blades (upper and lower). Also you may wish to consider getting the training gear. I got training gear after crashing several times and learning what a separated swash plate meant! Haha. The training gear helps protect your rotor blades until you get things figured out. The gear is a little tricky to install but not if you're good with your hands. Special hint there remove the landing gear while stringing the rods through the little clamps, then install the landing gear with the training gear already inserted. Then adjust. You can then use needlenose pliers to help shove the little rods into the disk.

Okay....I pulled the trigger on the smaller Blade (Mcx), This one I know I can fly in the house and shop. I'm putting together a 35% 540 Edge...my biggest yet, and now I'll have my smallest(MCX). I want to thank you guys for your input, I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be ordering the CX2 so keep the good info coming. Again thanks!
