Anyone know, if a P120 is dialed back to the lbs of thrust of a P70 or P80 which will be more fuel efficient? Same goes for a P160. With such a slight difference in weight between them all, does it make more sense to get the 120, or 160 to power a P70 sized ship?

RE: Jetcat info
Great question.
The historical answer was that measured pound for pound of thrust, the P-120 had better thrust than the P-80 or P-70. The P-160 was about the same as the P-120.
I think the existence of the "SX" models might change the historical answer.
I will check if the newer technology has changed this and get back to you.
Regards,

I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that the P120 would be more efficient than the P70 for getting the same thrust.
Unless fitting the 120 into your specific airframe would be more complicated for whatever reason, I personally would go with the 120 instead of the P70. If nothing else, the 120 is suitable for many more current airframes than the 70 is (based on me hunting for airframes when I had a P70) so your options for reusing the turbine in your next jet are more wide open. You are paying a bit more money for that flexibility however.
I've had a P70, and several P120s (of varying generations) and given the choice again I would almost always go with the 120.

Thanks guys, I've been away from the jet scene for a while. I just picked up an early model Tamjet/Cermark F-16, & need a power plant. I've owned a few P120's over the years & always loved them.
I dont have any experience with the 16's. Good point about residual thrust at idle.. Not sure how the 16 will handle it. Maybe the nose high landing attitude is like a big speed brake????
