Default Which turbine for an ultrabandit

I'm about to start building an Ultrabandit build but haven't decided on a turbine.

I like the kero-start option of the P-180 and P-200 but the extra thrust and throttle response of the Olympus HP have caught my attention.

What do you think?

Phil

P-2heezy

Three reasons

1. You can turn up a P-200

2. JetCat usa is GREAT for service (sometimes a little slow, hey they're busy but that's a good thing right? Great otherwise!!)

3. That's what I'm doing!!!

Depends on your flying style. I have a P180 and it is so strong I rarely use full throttle. Speed is legal+ and vertical is pretty much all my eyes can handle. I can't imagine using the extra 5 pounds of thrust for much of anything, but that's just me. The extra weight and fuel consumption just didn't seem like a good trade off to me.

Not being critical at all of the 200 guys. If you want over the top power, than that is your engine.

You will love the UB ... pure flying machine.

I have a P-180, wish I had a P-300+

Whatever you do stick with JetCat.

I saw David Shulman fly an ultra bandit at jetpower 08. I have never ever seen a model jet fly as fast... and needless to say he was doing hair raising 1 feet over the deck knife edges... at mach speeds... I dont know which engine it had, but I reckon it was an olympus because if I am not mistaken it was Bennie's airplane.

Yes it was an Olympus HP...I know because I assembled the UB for Bennie and I was the person keeping everything crossed when Shui was flying it
Best piece of flying I have ever seen from Shui.

if you want performance, Olympus HP is best choice.

Not true but to each its own!

If David Shulman could fly a trash can he'd make it look amazing in the air. The man can fly period and I think I only know of one maybe two guys that can hang with him.

Phil, JetCat is here in the US and from previous experience I really hope you drop a P-whatever on that Ultra, you will never fly that thing pegged for an entire flight I guarantee you that, the throttle response on the new JetCats are just as good as any other comparable turbine out there. You should've taken me up when I handed you my TX at FJ when I offered you to take my Ultra for a lap.

Just my $0.02

Is it true that the Olympus will require a different fuel system and UAT since it pulls fuel so hard? Just a rumor i heard...

The Oly is a superb engine and it does not need any special fuel systems. I had one in an F4 and rarely used full throttle, and this was an air start...While I have not flown a JC 180 nor a 200, as most fair minded people know one can not go wrong with the JC or the Oly for this particular jet....

Hi from Switzerland
I am comleting a JMP FIREBIRD and since two weeks I have the AMT Olympus HPE here in my hands.
It is heavier and defintive not as up to date as a P-200 technical wise, but if you are looking for unmatched
build quality, reliability and love to deail,no way leads around the products from AMT !!
see you
