RE: Skymaster F-4 Equipment Install
Hi Pat, sorry I missed your call yesterday. Jeff told me at LA Jets that he was going to take some pictures of my F-4 and send them to you, so they are either on the way or he will post them up on this thread.

Thank you guys so much for your Photos very clean and light looking. I plan to install the smart fly Power Expander Competition 12 and Two A123 4800 Packs for the rx and one for the Turbine Here in Alaska the A123 bat seem to work very well with in the Cold weather. I plan to use Jr 81611A Flight controls and Jr 2722 on Flaps and steering. I have heard a lot of good things about this Bird.
Thanks you all very much.

Pat,
If you use 2 A123 2300 packs, they will fit between the nose gear mounts and the fuselage wall. The 4600 mah is more than enough juice for the F-4. Also, you may want to think about using 8611s on the flaps also instead of the 2722s.
I have my Smart Fly and most of the equipment under the canopy. The solenoids, fuel pump, and ECU are the only items on the equipment tray that is above the main fuel tank.

I have been useing the A123 Bat for about a year now and really like them. Have you flown the F-4 many time and have still got to find out neutral elevator position for a good c.g. it seem 290mm is a good starting piont but I have not seen a neutral elevator postion.

Thanks so very much for the input.

Thanks I can see that will be easy to setup,
How much wt did you have to add in the nose???
I have seen a Brake chute detail and scale, I am hopeing it will really work to help stop on the ice runway here in alaska, but am holding off until I find out how much lead wt in the nose I am going to have to have.

RE: Skymaster F-4 Equipment Install
Pat, Ihave over a pound of lead in the nose. I am using 3 3850mah Li-Po battery's in front of the nosegear and the lead weight is ahead of that. You have the same nose as I do (short) so it requires more lead up front, and I have no chute system or anything out of the ordinary in the back end either, only 2X 8711's for the stab and an 8611 for the rudder installed per plans.
I am using 2721 servo's on my flaps and they have been superb.
Hope this helps,
Dave

I started my CG at 295mm and have since moved it back. my buddy Mike Lesher (aka F106jax) said it flies great at 300mm. i'm still inching mine close to that mark if not further.
I have an AT 450 (olympus equivalent) in mine. i'm running (2) 3000 mah NiMh backs and 3800 mah Duralite LiMn pack in the nose along with 11 ounces of lead. I'm still removing lead and hope to achieve a more accurate CG over the next couple of flights.
i'll let you know where i end up over the next couple of months.
good luck amigo
