It sure sounds like it is only half of what is expected.

I just bought the truck 3 days ago and I went about 12 min the first day and now the time just dropped. The batts are charged with a mrc 977 peak charger and not abused at all they are only 2 weeks old with under 10 charges on them. Also the truck seems to run fine otherwise ,nothing binding or dragging .

If the charger is indeed adding about 4000+ mah to each battery then that leaves us with driving habits or vehicle.

I would bet money on a charger or battery problem though.

You might be right about batt or charger .When I charge batt the mah number dosent go to 4600 Its lower but I cant recall the exact number but next time I will check better and figure it out . I thought 4-5 min seemed too short. Thanks

Are the cells false-peaking? How long are they taking to charge and at what charge rate?

Try doing a slow charge without peak detection, may take several, several hours but might restore things if they are false-peaking.

Failing that have you checked all over to see is anything really hot after you run it? If you have eliminated binding, can you try it with some other packs, maybe some regular 7.2v packs?

That is one thing im looking into-false peaking. Im charging at 4 amps and it takes about an hour on the 977 charger. Im also charging two batteries at once .Not sure if that makes a differance. My next step will be charging at a lower rate and see what happens. I just purchaced some deans and traxxas connectors to connect some of my 7.2 batts and see if it makes a differance. Also I dont seem to notice any major heat but will check for it next time. I need to see if I can turn off the abaility of peak detection on the 977 and do the slow charge. The guy I bought the truck from said he was getting 12-15 min with 4000mah batts so Im thinking its a batt issue . Thanks

4 amps at an hr is equal to 4000 mah in capacity. The 977 is not able to charge without peak detection. The auto-off nor any of the safeties can be disabled. If they are indeed going to 4000 or so then charger is normal and doing two at once is a-ok.

are the batteries slightly warm when you take them off of the charger?? If they are fully charged they should be warm.If not they have false peaked..

I have the Venom 5000 batts and have had about 15 cycles on them. Ithink mine are false-peaking, and I'm glad I read this thread. The charger I'm using does not allow me to turn off my peak detection either, so Ineed to try and find my old charger so Ican charge them until they're warm.

Unfortunately, this is my second set of Venom batts; the others Ifried using my old charger because Iwas drumb'd (drunk & dumb) and forgot to check them... they boiled. At any rate, I'm certainly not drunk, so I guess I'm gonna go on an egg hunt for my old charger.

Thanks!

OH! Great time to post this question, Isuppose. My "brakes" don't work nearly like they used to. In fact, they hardly work at all. Could this problem be originating from the ESC?
