Thats why they call it a prototype, but I dont know why it would not run, all you would need is a different crank shaft modified for 2 pistons, otherwise they are simply just 2 different engines.

the only problem i see with that is that the fuel is compressed when the piston moves down the bore... with the 2 pistons this wont be consitant as 1 will be moving down while the other moves up so the fuel wouldn't compress and be forced into the cylinder? stop me if im not right with what im saying, i know the insides and out of 4 stroke car engine 1:1 scale... not to hot on the smaller 2 stroke engines.

if the cylinders where in line and not in the v formation then it would be easy as the 2 cylinders can have seperate crank casings... it would be more like 2 engines bolted togther long ways.

This is true, I did not think of that

unless the pistons were timed the same...( moving up and down at the same time....)

sorry i didn't mean to say anythgin about 2 different engines, i meant the same engines but seprate rather than joined together.

and yup if they both moved up and down together then that would eliminate the problem with having 2 seperate crank cases... i guess though it would make the engine vibrate alot more... with multipiston engines the more cylinders you have the smoother it runs... as the 1 piston is moving down and the other is moving up it balances it out and increases the power as thepiston moving down pushes the piston moving up, so it would be a smoother engine.

has anyone actually attached 2 engine together inline? joining the drive shaft together by some method? this should in theory be smoother than having 2 seprate... but a bigger pain inthe arse to mount

the crank would balance it out....but you would need a rear bearing on the backplate, other wise it would be way to much stress on the end of the crank.

On those Wankle engines, The Springs on the apex seals will not last long without tremendous cooling of the engine. I hope you are using at least 25% castor oil in the fuel, the rotor will wear out the front and rear faces on the rotor housing if you don't.  Ask me how I know[:@]
