I was recently in nyc hanging with my friends when w e came upon a flea market. I noticed a pile of boxes containing rc stuff. I checked it out and they were exceed 1 16 truggys for 45.00. I offered him 20.00 and walked away. He called me back and accepted. I wiould have bought 2 but I could not carry 2 around for the rest of the day. Anyay exceed is kind of an off brand and its hard finding parts and support but I heard that parts for redcat racing fit. It has been fun and I really like this truggy. It all depends on whether i can find parts and stuff. I saw this vehicle at raidentech for 90.00 so it seems i got a pretty good deal. Havent found one at a garage sale yet but Im always looking.

I hope craigslist counts. I had bought a Jato off this guy from craigslist for 200.00 bucks. The car was in excellent condition had some aluminum upgrades, steel spur, mid mounted 5 cell battery pack, he threw in the charger, some spare tires and wheels, and an xtra engine on top of the one that was on the car. Both engines ran great and I still have them lying around. I think I did good for 200.00 bucks.

I found a pro-boat mini-v in the toy section at a seconhand store. No transmitter, but thats not really a problem, considering I only paid $0.50

well i went to a swapmeat and was looking for a scale
body for my rock crawler. the hobby shop wanted like $80
for a lexan shell so i was reluctant to fork out. anyway
on my travels around the swapmeat i stumble across
boxes of kids toy trucks. one of them, a jeep catches
my eye. the old fella says ten bucks its yours. it had crappy pink
stickers on it and it needed some work but i fixed it up
and painted it. the truck it came on (first pic) was a dinasuar
and was thrown in the bin but the body was surprisingly
scale. any way the paint cost me $12 and the body $10
and i think it looks great. i have been since going out to
these swapmeats with the old girl but havnt found anything else
yet. luck of the draw. the more i go to and dont find anything
the more chance there is of finding something later.
heres what i started with:

heres the body on my truck.

I've done pretty well at garage sales in my area... I bought a couple of T-maxx's for around $50 or so and sold them on ebay.. Some of my biggest finds were a Tamiya Clodbuster, Monster beetle and even a few odd ones, Tamiya Boomerang and a Mauri Hunter... All sold on ebay... My best hobby shop find was a GS SUT truggy for $20... The owner just crashed it into a curb and severely damaged it.. All it needed was a new engine a front tower and steering parts... Kept that one for a couple of years and finally sold it last year... I've checked Craigs list here but nothing too good to go after...Either people think this stuff is worth gold after years of abuse or age, or they can't even get the listings correct.. either way, never found a deal there... Ebay used to be good, but people are getting nuts with the bidding... I've seen too many times stuff sold used that I can go to the LHS and get for less... Garage sales are the way to go for me.. .I buy and sell them, then use the money to get what I really want...

man you guys are lucky im yet to find anything besides toy rc's ive never seen any hobby grade stuff as of yet. I remember seeing a bunch of electric motors at a flea market in a little bin the guy wanted a buck a piece but this was before i got into the hobby i had no clue what they went to or what i was even looking at. Looking back on that I wish I was into the hobby back then i probly would have bought em..

i have never seen anything hobby grade, but if your like
me and your building a trail rig or something, and need small
electric parts, like winches etc. these things although hard to find,
have been almost thrown in the bin from kids in favour of computer
games and the like. if your expecting to get a steal and flog it
on ebay, you should also expect to be dissapointed. i go out with
my mother and she likes to look at everything. i just enjoy having a gander.
knowing that most times there is probably gonna be nothing, but i
pick up a plant or two, some speakers who knows.

luck o the draw.

last year, I was cruising by a place down the street from where I lived at the time, and they were having a garaqge sale. Most of the stuff looked like trash, but 1 bin caught my eye cuz I saw an antenna sticking up from a JR XR3i, so I went ahead and dug under the trash, and found the JR transmitter, and under a moldy magazine a HPI RS4 Evo, and almost all the parts for it. it was in great shape, just needed to be put back together. I asked the guy what he wanted, and he ask "what is that thing worth anything Looks like trash that my old roomate left here I was just going to recycle the aluminum, give me $15 and the whole bin is yours" I walked away pretty stoked to be honest, but since I already has my NTC3 which IMO was definately the better and faster of the 2 stock, I rebuilt it and sold it to my neighbor for $75. In that deal, I ended up with the JR radio, the RS4, an HPI radio, spare shocks, and some savage parts as well.

20$ for a vintage Team Associated Gold tub buggy rolling chassis with a 6gear tranny and an Airtronics Rival transmitter at the swap meat. Seller was asking 40$.
Took off some good parts for myself. Sold the rest on ebay for almost 50$.
Did this twice already. I still have one, which is my very first RC.

Bought and trade a lot from Craigslist too. Found a Thunder Tiger Nitro Motorcyle Brand New in sealed box for $150. Seller lives a few blocks from our house and owns a hobby shop in Palm Springs. He had 2 of them and sold them to me $275.00 for 2. I sold one on ebay for $329.00 plus shipping, Practically got mine for free and extra money for me. Same guy, sold me a new Thunder Tiger EB4 buggy for $125.00, sold it in ebay for $200.00, buyer paid $100 to ship it in Spain and told me he still saved a lot.

Lately, there is a lot of competition already. They go really fast. Prices that low specially for brand new stuff sells right away, as fast as 2 minutes from posting the add, the item is already sold.
But also lately, there are a lot of adds for RC in Craigslist, but are priced ridiculously high.

There is always 1 or 2 at our swap meat, but most of the time they know how much to sell them. Sometimes I get lucky when the seller dont even know what they have. They think its just a broken toy.
