KC,
not sure what gyro you are using, but all the gyro's i have in my heli's (spartan, futaba 401, futaba 240, futaba 601/611, JR 7703d) are all able to be used with 6v systems. Its the Tail rotor servo's that are limited to 4.8v only.

RE: What spectrum 2.4 receiver and power combo?
Hi Chad:
I also like the 9100 and 1222, not only for the hefty current carrying capacity with the heavy input leads and EC-3 connectors, but also the 4 remotes, rather than having one of the antennas on the RX itself like the 1221. With my F-100, I still have the 1221 RX close to the sidewall of the Presto-covered fuse, as it would be very difficult to re-locate without tearing the guts out and starting over, and it shows 50-75 fades, whereas the other three RX's in the cockpit area show 0-10 fades.
The failsafe switch is also a nice feature.
On my Kingcat, I have one of your original A123 bats that I re-wired to 18 ga output to a Deans plug and a JR plug for direct charging. Then into a Smart-Fly Regulator via 18 ga wires with (2) JR outputs into the 1221 via (2) ED HD switches. That setup was my first 2.4 in a jet and is now well into it's second season approaching 150 flights with that setup. Once again 8411's all around. Uses about 350 maH/9 minute flight. Re-charge after every flight in about 3-4 minutes at 4A with a CellPro Multi 4.
