Default T-maxx 2.5 FOC and single speed?

Can you do both? Has any one elece done both of these? Will it make my truck slower with the single speed? My friend made a small off road track so i dont really need a 2 speed. Just wondering how it will effect my truck?
Thank You!

Yes removing the 2nd gear will remove make the truck's top speed lower. The Foward Only Conversion will help lighten the truck, but I'd leave the 2-speed in it. If you want the truck to remain in 1st gear while on the track, just adjust the shift point so 2nd gear never engages. Then when you go bash elsewhere you can just re-adjust it and don't have to remove and then replace the 2-speed.

these MT's are really made to have a 2-speed on all but the shortest tracks and it doesnt really add much.adjusting the tranny to shift higher will give you what you want while still retaining the ability to do high speed runs if you just re-adjust it to shift lower.josh

A single speed conversion is availiable for the black .15/2.5 Maxx tranny.
It is geared between 1st and 2nd gear ratio.
You will loose a little bottom end torque and top speed. It works well on tight technical tracks where high speed is not needed or can not be achieved.

I havent seen the track yet. My friend just built it. Going there this weekend to see it tho. He has a AE sc10 so it is most likely set up for short course trucks. Told me it was just a small track so i dont think i will need the 2 speed do you? I will know more about the track after this weekend. Will try to rember to take camra for pic to show you. Thank You for all your input!!

Have a look at the track and run your Maxx to see if the straights allow enough distance to shift into second or not.
Also take into consideration that you may need/want to lower the tooth count on the CB to regain the lost bottom end torque with a single speed conversion (especially with the 2.5)
Experiment with what you have on hand before taking the plunge into single speed. I have the luxury of 12 of the black tyranny’s set up for different track layouts and for spares, 2 set up as single speed, 3 with a center differential and the rest FOC. That way I can try different setups by just swapping the tranny and determine what works best for each track layout.

No...The FOC is one of the best things you can do to the tranny! I highly recommend it.

When i do the FOC do i take the servo that was ment to shift from forward to reverse and use it as my throttle/brake servo? I think i have read somewhere do do that but im not sure. I appreciate all your help snook man! I see you alot on the traxxas forms and think you give great advise with helping people out!

The 2018 is the weakest servo on the stock truck.
Most people upgrade the steering servo to a higher torque and then use the 2055 stock steering servo for the throttle/brake.

I diddent get to make it out to the track this past weekend because i hade some stripped gears. Got them yesterday so i will try to make it this weekend. I tryed to got a FOC at my LHS but the workers and i couldent find one. There computer sain they had two but after an hour of looking i think they need to recheck there stock! So i still have all the stock geard in the tranny!
