You will want to run a 20% nitro, traxxas makes the fuel and most hobby shops carry it. For batteries, You can use 4 AA batteries or you can buy a receiver battery pack which will give you more power to your servo's. The receiver battery pack is rechargeable so you will need a charger. The 4 AA batteries work just fine when bashing around.

If it's your first nitro I'd recommend downloading the manual, has some basic information about tuning and things.

quick tip. Never start the thing with the wheels on the ground because you can strip your spur gear if it tries to take off and you hold it down also make sure all your electronics are on and that the throttle is on neutral before you start it. Sometimes its easier to start it with the throttle open but make sure to quickly close it before it starts taking off.

The best thing you can get for any nitro RC especially for a beginner is a Failsafe. It could mean life and death for your RC.

I recomend Byron's Gen 2 20% nitro fuel.
Even tho it's a Traxxas vehicle I've heard many bad things about Traxxas Top Fuel.

And like Sheograth said, read the manuals.

Heres the Jato 3.3 manual
http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitr...ews.htm#manual

Heres the Jato 2.5 manual
http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitr...jato_views.htm

Welcome to the addiction.[8D]

Yeah there are better fuels to use instead of Traxxas top fuel, among them Byron's and O'Donnell.
