They may look similar but the displacement is 80cc not 57. The pictures were provided to me by the manufacturer and if you would look closely at the crankcase and the head exhaustports, you will finda design difference between the 57 and the 80cc motors.

Trust me I know the difference. An honest mistake was made and it wasn't by me. I see the first pic that I refered to is gone now from the original post. I have attached the picture that was in your post below from Tomy's site. I know what a 57 looks like as I own one. The crankcase and cylinder are totally different from the 80. The second pic Iposted is how the 80 looks from the front. If you look the 57 has 8 rows of cooling fins and the 80 only has 7, also the crankcase bolts on the 57 go through the crankcase and out the rear for attaching the stand offs or optional mounting plate. Don't make it sound like I don't know the difference between the engines.

Bonus pic for the fun of it. This is a very nice pic showing the 57 and 80 side by side. I do look forward to seeing the performance of the 80 once it is out on the street. Tomy has worked very hard on making this a good engine. I like how he has gone to a slanted plug in the head instead of being vertical as it will have a lower profile for fitting inside cowls.

Well yes i removed the first picture after reviewing it, i found itnot to bethe MT80. I was not trying to protray you as ignorant, and you know i didnt say you weren't knowledgeable, however if you feel better replying with your correction then thanks for that. But pictures aside, i will be importing these motors and making them available to the u.s. market in short time. Iam not familiar with Tomy, but i frequent the far east and importproducts fromthe Pacific rimregions.I will do my best to compete with current market price, and provide manufacturer warranty. If youare interested inpricing just PM me and we can go from there.
Thanks again!

i have the options of buying either the MT-57 / MT-62 or MT-80, for my unfinished EXTRA 300 / 2.3 meter . this Extra has a Fibreglass Fuse , Foam Sheeted wings so no doubt it will be slightly heavier than the built up versions of this model. what engine size would you go for ?

I have both the 57 and the 62. I would give a very slight edge in power to the 57 over the 62. The 62 is a very smooth engine though and purrs like a kitten. It weighs slightly more than the 57. Both of these would fly a 2.3m model with out any problems. The 80 might be a little overkill, but hey overpowered planes can be allot of fun it handled properly. The 80 is very light for its size. It is around 1750g without a muffler I believe. The 62 is around 1850 with a muffler so it shows just how light the 80 is. If you like 3D I would go with the 57 or 80. for just flying around or IMAC stuff The 62 is a great engine and is a good value. But if you are nuts like me, slap an 80 on it and see what she will do. I think it would be a good combination.

Default RE: MT80 80cc Single cylinder powerhouse!!!

I am building a 1/3 scale sop with pup, form bulsa USA. At first I was going to use a 42cc Poulan converted chain saw engine. After a few discussions and inquiries later, I found out that I need an engine that can turn a big prop, to get around a 14†cowl. Then I was going to build a reduction system like Toni Clark. But after thinking about it a while I decided to go with the Zenoah G 62 like most of the guys. In this plane you need 7lbs to balance it. I think the G62 is 6lbs, the MT 62 is a lot cheaper then the G62, but for the same price, I can have the MT 80. Then I can turn a 27†prop, and lots of power. Not that I need it. My question is how reliable are these engines? And are they easy to start? Should I go with the 62 or the 80? The Mt 62 is more powerful then the G62. Also what about the SV 90, it’s cheaper yet. It’s heavy but that’s good thing. Any input would be appreciated.

The MT80 hasn't been released yet to my knowledge, they showed it, but it shakes a little too much so they are working that out before they release it.

The MT62 and G62 make the same power, the 62 is the best engine in the line, just check the timing and get a good rotator block for the carb, it will turn a 23x8 about 6700 rpm.

The MT62 has the same power as the G62. Out of the box, not broken in it will turn a 22x10 or 23x8 Xoar at 6700. The MT 80 from reports is turning a 25x10 at about 6100. I have a MT62 and it starts very easy as does the 80. As for reliablilty the 80 is a new engine so that would be hard to judge. The MT62 while not all that popular seems to have a good track record. It is a copy of the G62 but with electronic ign. The cylinder and pistons are interchangable between both the MT62 and the G62.

With the G62 they use a 24x6 or 24x8 prop. Toni Clark they use a G38 with a 2.8 to 1 reduction system, and a 32x18 prop at 3000 rpm, the plane flys very scale. I need a 7lb engine that can turn a big prop. Thanks for you time in helping me.
