Default Help with a Razor 45

Yes, it's "engler" again... don't we love this hobby? I gave my little brother the "other" falcon i recently made (it has a hotpipe/ss engine doing 65mph). I decided to stay with my stock falcon (doing 60mph) and after all the research i have done the RAZOR 45 seem like the best VEE hull for a stock engine. My plan is the RAZOR45 / speedmaster stinger / 5 inch rudder / billet trim tabs (2 or 4 trim tabs, i don't know?) / modded 257 carb / 2 inch band pipe / 100 degree header / 2716 15 rake or 20 rake. This is a very similar set-up to what i have on the "stock" falcon, will i get close 56-58mph with this set up? My stock falcon feels with lots of torque and move the cupped 2716 20 rake. PLEASE GIVE ME ANY FEEDBACK YOU MIGHT HAVE ON THIS BOAT/SET-UP. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds good.
it will be interesting to see if your new mono will spin your 2716 20 rake prop with a stock motor.
My mono wont spin mine even with a mod motor,just too much prop.
Brod..

Well i don't know if it will spin it yet.... what hull do you have? and do mono's usually use a "smaller" prop?

Here is a pic of the back on my Razor. I'm running a modified M+D drive, Speedmaster trim tabs, a 6" setback Speedmaster rudder with a dual p/u tapered blade, and Aeromarine turn fins. My motor is an M+D full/mod 260. The prop I am currently running is a Dasboata X470/2 pitched up a bit and barr cut. My lake is @ 5120ft. I think the ABC 2716/20 is going to be too much prop for you, but who knows. Good luck, Brian

The Razor is a high lift hull that does not need much motor to get it moving, but will handle just about anything you want to put in it. They can go very fast. It runs well best in small chop in my opinion. If it gets squirly, just let off the gas and she will come right back on track. Stay out of others roost! But that is the same with any boat. The hull comes with a setup book so that you can't go wrong with the hardware placement. (altho some do Get the scoop cowl! The boat runs much better with the cowl on. Great hull and built better that any other on the market!) Brian

I have heard a lot of good things about the razor, what kind of speeds are you getting out of the boat? I have also heard a lot about the lazor, but it requires a Mod motor for best performance. This is what I have been reading in a lot of the post, I don't have one, but like eengler I have heard nothing but good Stuff;
If I were in the market for a Mono hull, the razor would be my choice, but would have to wait for the cooler weather so I could get one of the cool metal flake paint jobs. SWEET;

Later; Randy

actually most of the posts say that the "lazer" requieres a modded engine, not the "razor"... anyone else second this? ( i have seen the lazer in action, and it is a very wet boat, which i do not like)

The scoop cowl covers up the engine bay that would suck a lot of air into it without the cowl on. The scoop cowl settles the boat down so you can get down to the business of winning races! The boat is slower with the drivers cowl.[]
Did I hear FLAKE JOB?? Brian

Eengler, if you have read my post, I did say that most of the LAZERS work best with the MODDED motors. And I have also read where they are wet if they don't have the power to lift the Hull.
Those are some sweet looking boats, what speed are you getting out of the razor and are you running stock motors? And the Flake is killer.

Thanks;

Randy

The Lazer's isn't exactly as rumoured in my opinion. Even a stock engine in flat water if properly tuned and setup are rockets. Here is a couple video's of my Metalflake Lazor with a "stock" engine in it.

Could be wrong but think it runs pretty good against full mod powered Razors and Conquest's. Any comments welcome and appreciated.

nice boat Daniel, really nice! good job! Wanna post some pics of your transom? and your CG? hahaha. Painman, I am sorry, apparently the sundays beers don't allow for me to read very well! Daniel what do you say about the boat requiring a hatch? It looked very well running w/o the hatch. (save $50 bucks on not buying the hatch and the engine runs cooler w/o the hatch)

RCMK EVO, External Stinger Hotpipe w/3" coupler(important), UK PropShop 7016/3. Speeds are 56-58mph. I can get pictures soon.

Lazer (the Dominator pipe is pictured have since switched to a Hotpipe)

I have both Lazer and Razor, I think the Razor would be quicker with a stock engine.
Athough the RCMK's are stock engines they have a lot of mods right from the factory. It would probably clear things up if you said what "Stock motor" your going to run.
I agree with Brian on the scoop hatch, I siezed a motor in my Razor running without a hatch.
At the 07 gas nats there were a couple of Super Sport Razors running close to 55 with stock Sikks through canister mufflers! [8D]
