Default dual rudder set upon Rio 51

I want to put a dual rudder on my Rio, and have been looking for a connecting rod to tie the 2 rudders together, I thought of using one from a BJ55 but I would need to know the length the the rod with ball links.
The measurement would have to be center to center of ball links closed and opened all the way, could someone help me out.
If the Rod from the BJ55 doesn't work I will brobably have to make one or if someone has another sugestion would appreciated. Pictures of any dual rudder setup on a Rio would be cool.

Thanks
Mark

I know the boat probably doesn't need it but it will look cool

a dual rudder setup looks cool and that's about it. It's not needed on the RIO. I have a single rudder and it'll turn on a dime, right or left.

If you must, consider buying some 8-32 all thread from the local hardware store and some Traxxas revo rod ends from the local hobby shop, cut to fit and cover the ugly all thread with a AL or brass tube from the hobby shop.

Engineerjoe, I am still in the "I'm not sure" phase, will do moc up before cutting holes in the hull to see how it looks and if I like it. The idea came to me only because I have spare rudder hardware, would be using 8-32 stainless. I will look into the Traxxas rod ends thanks for the tip.

Bill great looking gear, even sexy you might say. I went on your web site and was very impressed very nice equipment as sonn as I get my credit card out of the black will seriously consider Top secret boats.
I'm thinking of buying a new hull, deep v local hobby shop has it in his window.
But from the pics you sent this set up looks a bit narrow for a Rio 51, can you supply dimensions, didn't see them on web site.

Any other vids or pictures of the motorized dive that is on your web site, that is very cool.

Hi Mark, Thank you for the complement. The dual rudder setups we have are all set at 5 inches apart with about 1/4-3/8 adjustment. Others have used them on the Rio 51 and have not had any complaints. Just good feedback.

I will try to get more dimensions for you if you need.
