One of a kind Monster Maxx
I built this Truck for mountian clumbing, jumping and general bashing.
It had to use a UE monoblock so I could install a Corsa .46 BB engine. While this engine does not produce the 5Hp that is advertised It does have the meanest low end power curve out there.
The bulkheads have been modified to allow additional travel of the UE arms.
2 shock towers were piggybacked so the longer HPI Savage shocks could be installed to account for all the extra travel of the arms.
Custom battery box with Armstrong hardware for the large pump battery.
All metal drive train including the transmission gears.
CEN gas tank for longer drive times.

RE: One of a kind Monster Maxx
In a word YES. This truck weighs 14 lb 14.4 oz. with a full tank of gas. My Stock CEN Nemesis weighs 16 Lb. 1.3 oz with a full tank of gas. They both run the same engine but the Maxx is 1 Lb 2.9 oz lighter so it should run faster then the Nenesis. I haven't done any major jumps yet but the Maxx lands a lot softer with this suspension than the Nemesis. The Corsa .46 engine produces more power all the way thru the low end of the power band than any other engine I have found to date which is where this truck needs it's power. I completed break in yesterday and got a couple of tanks thur it and am real pleased with the results so far. I should get enough run time today to be able to make adjustments and start to see just what she will do. I will update you with the results.

RE: One of a kind Monster Maxx
sick truck man... take some videos when u get a change, i do not think im the only one that wants to see it in action!!
On another front *** is the deal with all these people talking smack about aluminum vs rpm and other plastics?? Ihave the right to put whatever I want on my own truck just as any of us do!! Iam really tired people bashing on how aluminum is sooooo heavy.... This guys built an awesome looking and potentially amazing performing truck so why do people feel the need to say oh that thing must be SOOOHEAVY!! Keep you negative opinions to your self!!!

In response to m******* as I step up on the box...
10lbs vs 14lbs....same motor....I'll go for the 10 lb truck. Aluminum IS heavy. My UE supermaxx comes in at a little over 10lbs.
The guys who put Integy on their trucks don't know any better. Its not their fault. They see the bling but don't realize the soft white metal they call aluminum will not hold up to bashing. Been there, do not want an Integy t-shirt! I got caught up in it too when I first got my maxx. Its forums such as this that made me "see the light". I love Integy's warranty...guaranteed unless installed.
Yes there are some good lookin' trucks such as the one above. But 14 lbs! wow, wayyy heavy. Almost bulletproof though.

RE: One of a kind Monster Maxx
but who cares how heavy it is, its not your truck, you don;t have to drive it and it does not sound like he is goin to be racing it!! So who cares its HIS TRUCK and those who do bash others for having aluminum keep your negative opinions to yourself. I just got back into this hobby and already have seen about 10 posts were someone took lots of time and even more $$ to build a sweet bulletproof truck and the first reply is someone talkin smack bc its sooo heavy instead of saying nice truck guys!!

RE: One of a kind Monster Maxx
I think you have to take a step back at look at all the views. The fact of the matter is that everyone is correct in thier opinions. However the product fit changes from person to person depending on the intended use of that product. When I build a Track car I tend to use lighter parts than I do for climbing or bashing. For an example Integy is the prefect parts for a show car, whellie machine, or run about. The looks are killer and will hold up better than stock. Since racing is not the intended use what difference dose a little extra weight make? For bullet proof parts I use UE. If you don't need bullet proof why would you spend the extra money.
Back to the Monster Maxx. A stock T-Maxx full of fuel weighs about 10Lb. The Monster Maxx weighs in at just under 15 Lb. 1 1/2 pounds of the extra weight is in the engine and exhaust alone. Add another pound for the all steel drive train. Then add for the larger battery pack, extra 95 cc of fuel, and the extra shock towers and longer shocks and you have accounted for most of the extra weight. This truck would not do what it dose without these parts. I already have the Tituminum chassis for the sister build of this truck. I think it will way between 1 to 1 1/2 pounds lighter than this one but i have to run this one until I know what all makes since for the new build.
Back to Integy, I am using thier shocks on this truck and will not have problems them. The problem with shocks is the suspension they are mounted to. Traxxas allows the shock to control the travel limit of the suspension arms, this is not good, I have increased the travel of the arms on this truck but my shocks have extra travel so they can't bottom or top out. The end result is no more blowouts (leeks) or bent shock shafts. I have Integy shocks that I have run for 3 years with this type setup without a shock related problem.

RE: One of a kind Monster Maxx
Very good eye RCSLSAFUT. It is a 2 speed clutch assembly. It will not come into play until phase 2 of this build. Phase 1 has 2 parts. part 1 was building the truck. With that done comes the fun part 2 is putting the truck through testing ie; run the hell out of it and see what happens. I got to run 2 tanks today before the rain and was inpressed thus far. All jumps at speed ended in 4 wheel landings where I was able to throttle up upon landing and keep perfect control of the truck. I need 3 more tanks of testing before I tear her down for a close inspection to look for wear and tear. For the bigger jumps I can already tell that I will matting collars for the 2 different shock springs on each shock. The lower and longer springs are for normal operation and the upper shorter springs are much heaver to take the shock of hard landings. I will make them and add them while I have the truck apart. My current plan is to have her back together by the weekend so I can run with a camera man and post video. I will take detailed pics of any part of the truck while I have it apart if anyone asks.

RE: One of a kind Monster Maxx
The Corsa .46 engine is listed at 5 Hp by CEN. X-Dyno test results show it at about 1.6 HP, I believe in the X-Dyno reslults. The important thing is the 74.88 in/oz torque @ only 16,500 RPM. With all this torque there is no problem launching the truck desipte the extra weight.

RE: One of a kind Monster Maxx
I have not bent or broke anything YET, it is an optical illusion. I am going to try to break something this weekend while taking video. The EU parts are expensive, when you can find them a used set of arms is around $120 and IMO are worth every penny. I have purchased several used sets because they are bullet proof. A used set may come with scratches but I have never seen a bent one.
