Default Thinking about another t-maxx

Hey guys. I had a t-maxx 2.5 about a year ago and sold it for a 1/8 buggy. The t-maxx was originally a .15 truck, and had some mismatched screws and radio glitching and i ended up breaking a few things on it because of the radio glitching and the fact it was already worn out when is started running it. The reason i sold it was that i had just got my savage(which i love), and i wanted to try some other things.

Anyways, I have had a Sportwerks Mayhem Pro buggy, an Associated MGT, and now an HPI Firestorm from my trading around(only keeping 2 r/c's at once), and for some reason, I just think the t-maxx was more fun than any of them, and that if i had a nice one, I would really like running it.

I know some dont like it, but one of my main reasons for liking that truck was the power the 2.5r engine had and I LOVED the EZ-Start. Far better than a roto start, and i like pullstarts, but i like the ez-start better than a pullstart too. Not to mention the truck itself was just a lot of fun to drive.

So im thinking of selling the firestorm and building a basically stock, but clean t-maxx from either a roller, or a RTR truck. Anyone have any opinions on the matter? Thanks

Eric

I do T-Maxx New Builds with quality used parts. When built from the ground up correctly the end result is a used truck that runs as good as a new one out of the box but without all the cost. This truck has more aftermarket parts than any other that i know of which makes finding good used parts easy. The Traxxas 3.3 engine is a direct swap for a 2.5 truck for added power.

That is one thing i really like about the t-maxx. Lots of aftermarket support, and easy to find used/cheap parts. Plus, its pretty light, so a good small block makes it a lot of fun[8D]

Im having a hard time resisting the urge to buy one

i too have savage and t maxx .i love my t maxx ,not going to say anything bad about the savage either, but the t maxx getts drove more . if that tells you any thing .
the 3.3 t maxx is way powerful [for a traxxas engine] . my son bought 3.3 s maxx damn thing wheelies on command ,its way fun to drive . his best friend bought
the new t maxx at the same time ,it comes with a whellie bar,and ya proper tune it needs it . if you liked your 2.5 t maxx you will love the new one i think!!!!!!!!!

oh ya rumours about a new t maxx with a big block have surfaced a while ago ???????????????? wouldnt that be fun

I dont think anything out there beats a savage for durability as far as MT's go, and my savage isnt going anywhere because it is an original .25 in great shape. It is a lot of fun to drive, but so was my t-maxx. Im in the hobby for the fun of it and the tinkering part of it. I love messing with the clutches, motors, gearing, and all that stuff just as long as it doesent cost me a fortune everytime i drive it. I thought about buying a truggy, but i dont race, and I dont have hardly any durability problems from my r/c's anyways because i dont bash that hard, so what is the point? I think i would have way more fun out of a good t-maxx, or the firestorm that i have now, so i think ill forget about the truggy. I dont do huge jumps or anything. Just a lot of wide open wheelies, and donuts[8D] I also love climbing hills. I thought about building an S-Maxx with a locked rear differential and lowering it slightly. Talk about wheelies, and drifting on a wet road or grass

I ran my firestorm some more today. Its only the 2nd day i have had it, and now that i have the clutch worked out and the tuning spot on, it is a lot of fun. Plenty of donuts, wheelies, and high speed action from it.Not to mention it is also pretty good on fuel, and the truck is extremely durable and easy to find parts for. I also found a good deal on a roller t-maxx though. And I just bought a lot of 3 smallblock engines that i think at least one of which would be good on a t-maxx(hpi .18). So, i am really not sure what i want to do right now. I have decided that I really only need 2 r/c's at a time, so Ill have to do some thinking and see which way i want to go for sure.

the s maxx is really fun and i was suprised to see it wheelie as much as it does . the tires really hook hard!!!!!!!!!! any way i think you would like either one .
the s maxx can be upgraded to 4wd with a kit , for not much money. it is already pretty low on stance too if thats what your looking for .

l smashed my savage 3.5 and my savage flux at a BMX track jump, l smashed a mini revo there as well, l never drove the T-Maxx there, l drove the E-Revo 1/10th there and it was the ONLY truck that survived the huge jumps over and over, my FLIX bent its crap chassis, the revo is plastic, it dont bend, it is far superior to a savage in every way. Controll, speed, revos lighter, better balanced sorry cummin driver disagree with you through jump experience. l'll race you of a 3 story building, would you even do that to your savage ? lm confident that if the revo lands on its wheels, it'll survive easy......did of a 2 story building anyways !

T-Maxx is impossible to beat for after market parts, the MT industry is half built around T-Maxx's.Follow T-Maxx history and it makes sence.

If you have one already, another would be a good idea as you already have spairs !

Well, we can agree to disagree. The savage is built tougher than a T-Maxx or a Revo IMO. I dont jump my trucks much, but the savage is an extremely tough truck. I havent broken a single part besides the rear differential in 6 gallons(and that was only because it has a stronger than stock motor). Can you say that about your revo(forgot its electric)? Honestly, you are comparing apples to oranges. I have no interest in an e-revo with the plastic chassis, and the nitro revo has an aluminum chassis like everything else. I would take a nitro revo, but they are more $$ than i would be looking to spend.

Revo is superior in ever way? You wanna get a chain and hook them together and see which one looks like a rag doll? The savage is heavier and it is MUCH better in thick grass, hills, and it is more stable on extremely rough ground because of it. Nothing wrong with a revo, but you are kidding yourself to say it is better in every way. Have you compared the size of the suspension arms between the 2?

I dont already have a t-maxx. I had one at one time and it was a fun truck for light bashing, but unless you upgrade several parts like the arms and bulkheads they arent suitable for hard bashing IMO. Im normally not too hard on my stuff though, so that is no big deal for what i would be doing.
