Pitts vs Ultimate ??
I am trying to decide which bi-plane to get. Any one have info on weather to get a GP 1/3 scale Pitts ARF or a Dave Patrick 1.20 size Ultimate. I'm looking for real facts, not just opinions. Thanks!

Pitts vs Ultimate ??
Well, what kind of plane/performance/type of flying are you looking for? If looking to get something with low wing loading that will do the patterns and some 3D, get the DP and stuff a YS140L or DZ in it. The GP 1/3 Pitts is really a completely different plane. This plane, IMHO, should be flow with a gas engine. The Pitts has more cross controlls and is harder to fly precise. It is a more impressive airplane in the air though, I am thinking of getting one myself and stuffing my ZDZ60RV in it Wooooo Hoooooo.

Your prop recommendation has been noted and filed for Future Reference
I was going to use a ZDZ-40, but heard it was not the best match for this airframe.

Pitts vs Ultimate ??
I have the DP Ultimate with a Saito 180...and a guy at our club has the GP Pitts with a OS BGX. I can rightfully say both planes are winners!!!
My Ultimate is a used plane (I'm the 3rd owner), and it's a little heavier now because gravity stinks! It makes me look good...I mean it makes me look like a better pilot than I really am. It snaps well, does BEAUTIFUL flat spins, doesn't hover really great because of increased weight. It is by far my favorite plane right now. I have yet to move the CG back and get really crazy with it.
The Pitts is still being sorted out...but can tell you it looks GREAT in the air. It doesn't snap as well as the Ultimate, but then again it's still running a forward CG as well. It rolls great, and will hover. Seems like it needs a little more speed on landing than the Ultimate. Keep in mind the Pitts was never really designed as a 3D plane.
I guess what I'm trying to say both planes are great flying machines. If you want to go gas, then the Pitts is the way to go, since it's bigger and built more for gas. I really think it comes down to which one looks the best to you...then build it and fly it.
Simple, huh!!!!!

Both are wonderful planes.
But if I need to decide bitween GP Pitts and Dave Patrick's Ultimate, I will go for the Pitts. I have flown both and the Pitts is much better.
Mine is powered with a Zenoah G-45 and is the perfect match, as far as balance is concerned.

Pitts vs Ultimate ??
It depends on what do you want:
The pitts is a very good plane but requires more coupling than the ultimate and is not as precise as the Ultimate.
The GP Pitts is a very good kit to go gas ( My former had a zdz 60 ).
The D.P Ultimate screams with a ys 140 on 30% heli fuel and is more 3d.
epc.
