Gerry, That is a fantastic looking bird. You are doing a great job on the build thread as well. Can't wait to see the vids on this one. Sorry to hear about the date with the knife and hope all went well.

BIG PROBLEM!!!!! OK, tonight I was looking at the CG. TBM moved the wing back 2". Now, with that I had to do some thinking! The 113oz. fuel tank sits in front of the CG and so does the 50oz. smoke tank! First thing I have done is move the turbine all the way back as far as I can. Next, I am going to have to cut the back brace out and slide the fuel tank back as far as I can. I am also going to move the batteries to the back too. At this time I think it is a BIG mistake to move the wing back 2". This is all built up now, SO you are losing all the weight of the foam, so I would live it alone. I understand what some of you said about test flying it the way they have it, BUT I had to buy this!! So its ALL my money in the air. The only break I got was from Sierra Retracts!!!!!! So you can see my concern on this plane! If ANYONE has any opinion on this, LET ME KNOW!! I will keep you informed on what is being done. I will also post pictures.

hi Gerry,
From what you write, it doen';t look like this plane would make an easy jet trainer. I thought it was...

No.... It will make a Great Trainer! There is alot of work to be done! Most of the mods. will be done on the production model! It is a GREAT jet and will do everything you want at a reasonable cost! This is a prototype so alot of changes have to be done! If there is anything else let me know!! I have seen the 3rd prototype and all the changes are there!!! You will LOVE it!!!! Gerry

Ok..... I know its been some time, BUT the DV8R has been set up and tested! There were some changes that HAD to be done. Fuel tank had to be moved. I had to cut out part of a former to get the tank to be over CG. There were some other changes done too. To my understanding all of the changes are being done on production model!

First test flight I had to call Jet Central and talk to Eric Clapp. It seems that using Powermax you have to take down the amout you use. OK after that everything worked perfect!! I do mean PERFECT!! The Gear from Sierra Giant Scale are GREAT!!! They were working great with all the bumps. Went to the end of the runway and took a DEEP Breath and lit the fire and poured on the coals! The plane took off in a flash! And it took NO trim adjustment!! WOW......I pulled the stick back to slow the rocket down! I flew it around at 1/2 to 3/4 throt. And every now and than opened it up. To my surprise there were no changes in flight characteristics!! I evan added somke to it on the first flight That was evan great! I flew around for about 7 min. and set up to land. Retracts down......All 3 down! Turned downwind, kept about 1/2 throt. Turned base and pulled throttle all the way down! On finial I put first set of flaps in..... No surprise, Plane tracked great! OK 2nd set of flaps......No surprise eather.......Things are going good!! I did use my old settings, and they were DEAD on! Plane slowed way down to land!!! I was so happy with the plane! I did loops, rolls, slow fly, and turn and burn!!! I will tell you that this plane with a Super Eagle is VERY VERY FAST!! I was so SURPRISED!!!! Plane came in 4 pounds lighter than the old one. I have tons of pictures, I do mean TONS!!! I guy from the club and took over 700 pictures. LOL At one time I heard him say he was taking 3 pictures a second. Here is also the like to the video. http://ckdgraphics.com/DV8R%20RC%20Jet.wmv Go and check it out. Can't wait to fly again!! If you have any questions, let me know.

Guys, I have been told that the Production prototype should be here in the end of May!!!!  Can't wait to see it!!  I will say that I REALLY like the 2-piece wing!  I did find out that there isn't alot of glue on the landing gear plates!  Yes.... I found out the hard way BUT it wasn't bad at all. The Sierra retracts are GREAT!!  The TBM gearr should be here to, with this jet.   Gerry

Everyone!!!!!
The production Model is HERE!!!!   TBM has the production model!  It will be at Jets Over Kentucky!  It will be on display only WITH retracts!!! Than it will be coming home with me to build!!! Gene has most of the manual done and is really good. He did say some of it will change due to changes. Guys this is GREAT news!!!  Also production is on right now, they may be here by the middle of Aug.!!! The first one is the Australian Blue. Guys I will be sure to take TONS of pictures and do reports on all building!!!!  I have talked with Gene, and his staff and him ALL say this is one great sport jet!!  Looking forward to this jet! I plan on putting 2 different Turbines in it! These Turbines are from Jet Central. They are the Falcon 100 and the Super Eagle 120.  On the Falcon I am going to play with it, By reducing it to 18 pounds and than up from there, Same with the Super Eagle. This way YOU the custermer will know how it flies with all points of Thurst!!

So would a rabbit (19 lbs of thrust) be enough?

If built light (turbine is pretty light itself) about how heavy would it be in the lighter range?

OK GUYS,

My DV8R came today from TBM and I just opened the box all I can say is "WOW" I can't wait to start it is the Red sport .
The factory box is very strong and doubled boxed and it will be hard to damage the plane in shipping . This kit is built very nice and the covering job on everything is fab . Will update when I start the build.
thanks for a great jet TBM & Gerry
